  1. Very nice! I have a Glock 42 on the bench with that same setup that I need to make a pancake holster for. Yours turned out great!
  2. I forgot all about this thread but funny thing is I just got another piece from Springfield leather and had the same issues. It had a lot of wrinkles and it was DRY, I mean really dry!!! I do have to agree that their customer service is fantastic, but that is the last piece of leather I order from them. It was nice being able to buy smaller amounts, but it is so hit or miss getting a good piece that I will just buy W & C exclusively.
  3. I sell most of my stuff on my local gun forum. I also list it on the manufacturers forum, for example if its a holster for a Ruger I'll put it on Ruger forum and a S&W I'd put on the S&W forum. I've also gotten exposure on Facebook by posting pictures of stuff I've made and had people call me to order.
  4. They are stiffeners that you attach under the snap. Blue gun store sells them. http://www.bluegunstore.com/thumbstiffenersbreaks.aspx I've heard of people making there own out of very thin metal, but I just order mine from BGS.
  5. Wow, how did you get such detailed wet molding on 10 oz? Sorry, I don't want to derail the thread but I am curious.
  6. Just checked out the website and he even has elephant testicles!
  7. That pink ain't my cup of tea but that looks awesome! What dye did you use to get it that color?
  8. Thanks for all of the replies. I ordered Wickett & Craig 8/10 ounce back in chestnut and it is hands down the nicest leather I have ever worked with.
  9. Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to give Wickett & Craig a try. I assume anyone that uses them buys the "tooling" leather that they specify is for holsters?
  10. I know this has been discussed before, but when I try to search I can't find what I'm looking for I guess because my search terms are so generic and it gives me hundreds of results. I have been buying Herman Oak B grade from Springfield Leather up until this point, but this last piece I got had a lot of waste and I wasn't very impressed with it. So my question is to the craftsman making holsters for a business on here, where are you buying your leather and what do you get? I looked at Wickett & Craig but I'm not sure what to get since they have a whole bunch of different leather listed. Thanks for your help. Brian
  11. That's a very cool idea glockanator. It sucks losing an officer and this would be a nice gesture.
  12. I'm not sure why my pictures are so small now. I've used Tinypic for years and never had an issue until the last couple times I uploaded they have been small. They must have changed something. As far as the stitches they do look close to the edge in the picture. I may have gotten a little carried away with my spindle sander!
  13. I haven't posted on here in a while, so I figured I'd post my latest holster. This is only the second holster I've done with a thumb break but I think it turned out pretty well. It's hand stitched and just finished with neatsfoot oil and mop & glow with neutral shoe polish as the final coat. Critiques are welcome, because I have learned a ton from the people on here and am always looking to improve. Thanks for looking.
  14. Thank you sir. I figured you would have to stitch everywhere, but I was reading it wrong.
  15. Do you stitch everywhere the leather bonds together or do you only stitch your normal stitch lines?
  16. You're work is definitely some of the best out there man. Your stamping is awesome!!!
