Hell, we're practically neighbors. I just checked out (and bookmarked) your website. It's cool to find other leatherworkers in the area. Sorry to hijack your thread.
I'm in the same boat right now trying to come up with a makers mark. Where does one get the stamp made when they design one? I tried searching on here but haven't been having any luck.
I really like the avenger holster for the LCR. If that was your first try at a revolver holster that's awesome because I find revolver holsters trickier because of the thickness of the cylinder.
Thanks Lobo, I'm not selling them I just want to make one because I want one. When I started in Law Enforcement I carried a PR24 and now an ASP. Our pants still have the slapjack pocket but we aren't allowed to carry them.
Man, I thought I would be the only one that would make one of these but it sounds like a couple of you guys have built some. I already have my pattern cut out and the logistics have been cleared up by the above posts. I like the sewed up pouch idea. I'd really like to see pictures if anyone has any....
Evandailey-thank you, I didn't even think about stitching it most of the way and filling it up, I was trying to figure out how to keep all the lead in place.
Rayban- Do you have pictures of the work in progress?
Not sure if this is the right place for this but it seems like the only place it fits. I want to make a blackjack (the things cops carried way back when) but can't figure out what the "inners" are. I'm pretty sure it's lead but I'm not sure if I can just use a whole bunch of little fishing sinkers or if it needs to be one long piece to make it more rigid. I hope this makes sense to someone because it makes sense as I'm typing it but I know what I'm thinking. If someone has cut one in half or has made one I would appreciate the input. Thank you.
There's no way that's your first leather project. That looks great!!! The only thing I would change would be the extreme cant but that's just a personal preferance thing. Very nice work.
Do you do this when the holster is wet or dry? This is how I did my one and only thumbsnap and it got loose pretty quickly (maybe a few weeks) and I went on the tight side when I set it.
Yeah, the trigger guard coverage was a minor miscalculation on my part. The stitch lines at the barrel are pretty tight though other then where the half underlug is. I thought about trying to follow the underlug but chose to just do a straight line instead.
