hello all, I have to make a small strap to secure my knife handle onto a sheath that I'm making. the leather is 8 oz tan leather so it's kinda thick. what tool or advice can you guys/gals provide me to accomplish this. I also plan on installing a snap rivet onto the strap. Thanks

hello all, I'm practicing laethercarving. but somehow the results don't look right. when I bevel the cut of the image, does the beveling need to be as deep as the cut? how much pressure do I need to apply to the knife , and how deep should the cuts be? thanks

Hello all, in the process of making my first gun holster. after I moulded the holster, I glued a decorative strap over it, which I then I had to sew on. I had a hell of a time trying to drill holes where the stitching will be going on the convex portion. I ended up flatening that area so that I could drill it. is there an easier way to do this? thanks

Hello all, haven't posted in awhile. been very busy doing non leatherwork stuff. recently a neighbor of mines wants me to make a holster for his gun. I've seen some of the gun holsters that some of you have made and are amazed at the talent on this site. what I would like to know is how do you mold the leather so that it follows all the contours and crevices of the firearm. thanks

thanks for all the replies. I just received a single 1/8 chisel and the lacing is going through easier, but sometimes my holes aren't evenly spaced and the alighment is sometimes off of the scoured line. is there a trick to this? or just more practice? thanks again for the tips.

thanks all, guess a lacing fid will be ordered soon.

thanks for the responeses. will try again. I'm having a little trouble in trying to thread the needle and lace through the opening. I'm using the needle with the two little prongs that holds the lace in place. it doesn't want to go thru.

Hello all, when lacing, do you go up to the next larger size punch than the lace that you're using, or do you use the same size punch as the lace? thanks
-
thanks Chief for responding. will give it a shot.

hello all, what type of punch do you use for lacing work? thanks
-
thanks, will try both.

Hello all, when transfering images onto leather, is there a material stronger than tracing paper? should the leather be a little wet? I'm afraid of pushing down too hard but if I don't, I have a hard time seeing the image. thanks
