  1. Thank you everyone for your advice. I’m very new to machine sewing but eager to learn.
  2. I’m using 92 thread and needles and I’m not sure what needles I got when I bought the machine.
  3. Thank you for the advice. I’m gonna experiment with tensions and see what I get. My girlfriend has 3 long arm quilt machines and we’ve been feeling with tension for years.
  4. Are these skipped stitches or are they loose? I’m not sure how to fix it.
  5. Thanks bob. I’ll play with it more when I get home. It’s a great machine.
  6. Ok. I think I have the locking stitch figured out. Now I need to figure out the top thread getting in my bobbin.
  7. Hey everyone, I got a cb341 this week from Cowboy bob. I haven’t had much time to use it yet but I have run into a few issues. The top thread keeps getting caught in the bobbin. It’s not constantly but more than I’d like. I used 2 different color threads so I could see what was going on. When I go to cut the thread, I usually had extra top threads to cut and then they are hard to pull out. another question, does this sewing machine tie off the first stitch or do I do a few reverse stitches to lock it?
  8. I’m headed to Toledo on Saturday to get a new cb341. Bob said that he’s only seen 1 used cb341 in the last 20 years. I’m getting an adjustable table and flat bed attachment. thus machine is less about making money and more about keeping me occupied. I’m a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. I also have adhd. I’ve been sober for 17 years on alcohol and 18 on pills so things like this keep my hands and mind busy. I’m also a musician but I’m needing a break. I started hydro dipping my guitars and basses as another project to keep me busy. But those are summer time projects.
  9. I want to get a sewing machine sooner than later. I either want a cowboy cb341 or a cobra 26. I’m gonna to be making small things like belts, guitar straps and wallets. my question is, do the sewing machine dealers ever do sales like Black Friday or New Year’s Day sales? I want a new machine but I’m also super cheap.
  10. There is a cowboy cb3200 about an hour from me. The seller wants $2100 for it and he says it’s only been used for 30 minutes. I’m sure this machine is more then I need but do u think it would work for the projects that I want to do?
  11. Hey everyone, my name is tj and I’m kinda new to the forums. I’ve lurked for a while and really haven’t t posted much. I’ve made a few holsters for myself, a belt and a wallet. All hand stitched and honestly poorly done. I’m getting board and need something to keep my hands and mind busy so I want to start working with leather again. Mainly small projects like wallets, purses and bags. probably just things for my family. I want to get a sewing machine and I’ve done a bit of research but honestly it’s all a bit overwhelming. I understand that every machine has its purpose and they don’t really make a “jack of all trades “ type machine. From what I gather, I either want a cobra or a cowboy but I’m not sure which machine to get. sorry if this has been posted a million times and thanks in advance for any advice. tj
  12. Hey everyone, I'm starting on my first belt and i had a few questions. The belt is a blank from tandy. It's 48" long. I've already grooved and diamond punched it. I'm gonna saddle stitch it. What end should I start on? Also should I try to stitch each side as one continues stitch? If so, how much extra thread should I have so I have enough? Thanks In advance for any help and tips.

  15. I was tryin to post from my phone and i have to go to the full site to post. I guess u can't post from the mobile site.
  16. I use olive oil and just reg veg oil. If I want it darker I'll dip it in oil instead of rubbing it with several coats. I have not noticed any smell.
  17. Ok so I'm sure it's been covered a thousand times but I can't figure it out. How do u post pics here?
  18. I made one of the punches that Dwight showed off and it looks like it's gonna work out well. I'd post a pic but I can't figure out how to yet.
  19. Actually after lookin at dwights punch, I might try and make one. It looks pretty easy. Dwight, The side that u strike, Is that just a raw edge or did u put something on it?
  20. Thanks everyone for the tips and help. At this point I'm gonna try the punch and chisel method. I am somewhat handy but I'm gonna save the custom made punch for another day. This started out as a hobby so I would like to keep costs down for a while besides for the fact that I havea newborn baby. Thanks again. I love this site b/c of all the great people and mass of knowledge.
  21. What punch should I use? This is my first somewhat nice lookin holster and I want the belt slots to look nice. I have a bunch of small pice that I can practice with. Once again thanks.
  22. Hey everyone, sorry if this has been posted already but I have a pancake holster that I want to cut belt loops into. Should I use one of the oblong punches from tandy or springfield? If so which one would you recommend? Thanks in advance.
