  1. I was looking for something new to make this week with some decent sized scraps I had left over from another project. I decided to make a cuff / watch strap for my Apple Watch. I think it came out alright but was looking for tips / suggestions on what I should work on, both design and leatherworking skills. Any input is appreciated.
  2. Separate thread. Same name as this one but it says March instead of February.
  3. Everyone's looks so good. Glad to be a part of this. I had little time to do this this month. So I just went straight from the pattern. Definitely needs something done with the edges but for a quick project came out decent. Made from some light clearance leather from Tandy and their mission grain lining.
  4. When I use my laminater for small projects I keep the extra pieces and use them for ID windows.
  5. Thanks for the update fanninator.
  6. How well do the poundo boards work? Never thought they were needed but if they work well might be worth it for my sanity.
  7. I live in a similar situation. I did fear the noise but I went around and asked my neighbors and they said it wasn't bad, but the people that live under me did say otherwise. I just work around their schedule, or warn them when I'll be starting something. I did make some items for their pets though, might have smoothed things over a bit.
  8. There were several changes to last months, I don't see why this month would be any different.
  9. This being the February monthly pattern I'm sure y'all are not the only ones with this question. I know I was wondering the same thing when I started looking at making mine.
  10. Nice choice! Can't wait to see everyone's work again.
  11. Yeah I liked this process. Even though we are all making the same item there are many different results.
  12. Thanks TRH, easier to get the cards out with the extra cuts. Never used that stamp before, picked it up shortly before leaving. I try to pick up a new stamp every time I go to Tandy, thought this one was interesting. I think the stamping could have came out a little better, but I was on the road for half the month so not too bad for the situation. Mobile leatherworking kits FTW!
  13. Everyone's work is so good. I did this while on vacation, wish I had more time on it.
  14. Love the progress people are making. Glad people are willing to show their unfinished work. Made me want to show my progress. I'm on vacation currently so spending time with the family has cut into the project time I was expecting to have. That said it's coming along. I don't like the coloring difference but it's going to have to work because I didn't bring enough leather to do anything else.
  15. Looks like a fine wallet. Your customer will be happy. As far as making it thinner could always skive the leather down.
  16. Add a closure, extend a side and make a clutch, put a zipper on one side and make a coin pocket..... The possibilities are endless!
  17. Out of curiosity, wouldn't that affect the overall strength of the stitch? I thought that you don't want to remove the leather but punch through it so it can heal around the stitch. Might not be a huge issue but I thought I'd ask cause I'm still a rookie.
  18. Sounds cool. We posting everything in this thread or we making a new thread for each months submissions and questions?
  19. In the middle picture with the lining done, are the linings just glued onto the leather? Or is there a crazy process that I don't know about to make that happen? EDIT: I don't know the dimensions off the top of my head but you might just want to start with some of the other patterns that are on the boards here. The one below is one of the more popular patterns and should work as a starting point for sizing. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=54776
  20. Thanks for posting this! Quick question, I've never use a closure like this and am worried about long term use. Does the leather become loose over time and come open easily or is that not really an issue?
  21. Thanks for all the posts. I think I understand the "puckering" idea. I'll be making another one at work tomorrow, see how the glue helps out. I have a few home machines already. Looks like I just need to pick up a few accessories to try it out. Would cut down some time if it works. I like to hand stitch but I like to have options too.
  22. I used a premade zipper with stops already on it. Hobby lobby had a clearance deal and I have like 40 of them. Figured I'd buy a cheap hide and work with them. I've been putting them to use for kids art supplies at my local church. I think I could make 30 of these things and the church could use them for something, so at least they won't go to waste. On a side note since y'all mention machine sewing. Can a normal machine see leather or do you need a special sewing machine?
