  1. That is a great idea for holding the belt in place. Have you tried it for burnishing? By the way, what are the tensioning devices called? Thanks for sharing
  2. Does anyone ever get into this section?
  3. Toadskin is just like leather apart from the uneven surface. The large "warts" are thicker and harder than the rest of the skin.
  4. Made this up for myself from the skin of Australian Cane Toad. Lining and inner pockets from calfskin and hand stitched all round with 0.8mm Tiger thread. It measures 100mm long (folded) x 76mm wide This is now my EDC wallet
  5. Excellent work Gordon, both the buckles and the straps. I love the fact that you made all from scratch.
  6. Could you please provide a link to the high end Chinese tools?
  7. I use 3M tape at 0.25" width. In some circumstances, I find it better than glue.
  8. I am beginning to think that it does not exist any more!!
  9. Has anyone been admitted recently?
  10. this is also worth a look at http://www.watch-tool.de/html/pliers_hammer.php

  12. Thanks for the rapid response, it has helped me find this tutorial (King's X - I think this is the one you referred to) So easy when someone shows you how........
  13. I have been asked by a friend to make a dog lead similar to this one. I believe thee knot is called a "bleed knot" I have searched around but can't find clear details of how to do it. It is unclear to me if it should be done with 2 long slits or several short ones. Can anyone help please?
  14. Thanks for the tip Kevin. I don't think that I will pursue anything with these buckles. They are not the cheapest of buckles and if there are practical issues, they are probably best left alone.
  15. Thanks a lot. A friend sent me the photo but could not remember where he saw it.
  16. Has anyone seen a supplier of this type of buckle - it is a quick release model
  17. Thanks a lot Bob - I will use the 31k manual
  18. We have a Singer 31k32 machine, but lack the manual. I have managed to find the manual for the 31k series machine, it states tat it does not include the 32. Is the 32 so different from the others, or can someone help with the 32 manual? Thanks in advance.
  19. I assume that you got it ok?
  20. Hi Gillian, I don't have the exact model, but my manual will be very similar (I have a 29k15) Not sure how to attach PDF. If you email me, I will send it. Good luck, Geoff
  21. That is a very nice wallet, also should last a lifetime.
  22. Thanks for your help. I have checked all round and made sure all is tight, then an application of machine oil. I placed the best of the shuttles in the machine and reduced the thread tension. The machine is now stitching a nice neat row of stitches. The only time that I have had a miss was when sewing thin leather glued together. May be the glue caused that? Thanks again
  23. Thanks Bob, I have checked the gears from under the arm and there is no apparent wear. I am getting a run of 6" or more of perfect stitching then a slight bump and a missed stitch. Should I look for new shuttle/bobbin? Or could it possibly be a thread tension issue? Thanks again, Geoff
  24. I have 2 Singer 29k53 machines. One of them runs a bit "bumpy" and may have wear and it is hard to get a consistent stitch with it. The second machine runs really smoothly and does not appear loose anywhere. The stitching is really nice and neat most of the time. However, unpredictably it sometimes misses an odd stitch. This is accompanied by a brief knocking from the shuttle area. I have tried various tension settings, but the inconsistency continues. Could anyone throw any light as to why this is happening? Also, is there any known link to a user manual for this particular model? (I have one relating to 29k58) Any help much appreciated
