  1. biggundoctor- I turned it on for you right after I got your message. If you don't see the NSFW area by the Marketplace, log out, then back in again. Standard disclaimer- we take no responsibility for the really baaad jokes! ;-) ~J
  2. RIP Richie Hayward, longtime drummer for Little Feat..

  3. I'm trying to fix the "whi is in the chat room" feature. If anyone gets kicked out, it was me (by accident).

  4. Thanks for the heads up! Will check into it now. ~J PS Can you PM me the spammer so I can deal with that too?
  5. This is a family friendly board. If you would like access to the adult area, just let me know. Please watch your language and symbols on the main board. Thank you for your cooperation.

  6. If you are logged in, you have more board permissions and you see all the pics.

  7. Hey, I wanna see a website! What's the URL?

  8. Thanks for the heads-up. Bet it has something to do with not inserting bbcode span and style tags in the search. Ugh. I will see if I can get it fixed., pronto. Are you a member of the adult section? That's where the pin ups are posted. ~J
  9. Hi Doc! You can preview a thread in a forum by clicking on the funny little green icon that appears when you bring your mouse near. It will give you the first and last post to a thread. I put the "hover preview" back on the forum posts and the "search" posts, which are what the forum thinks of as "view today's content" or "view new content". If you are in a forum browsing, you should be able to hover on the last post in a thread a get a pop up preview there. Yes, a person who reads with their cursor can now get a ittle dizzy, but we have to start naming posts better. "My bridle with silver" is easier to remember than "Last off the Bench." If you click on a profile you should see the about me page, not status updates. If you aren't, clear your cookies and log out, then back in. Anyone that wants to FILL IN THEIR PROFILE (boy I nag a lot about this!) needs to click their name, upper righ hand corner. A drop down menu will appear. You have a zillion more choices of how to use the board than you did before, so maybe make some time to review what is there to save yourself time. The notification system is really improved, andyou can configure it to your preference completely now. At the bottom of topics you will see some familiar icons- print this topic, share (email this topic), download it and now Facebook. Please click "like" to stuff you like for FB. You don't have to integrate your accounts, but please tell people by clicking "like" when we've done something you like or someone has shared some amazing leatherwork or instructions. We will be adding other social media tools later. Please let us know what you like and don't like, what we can change to help you, how we can optimize for your mobile devices and anything else we need to know. We want this board to be so easy to use that you only have to think about leatherwork when you're visiting. Thanks folks! Johanna
  10. You can preview in like 5 different ways now. I had to make sure i had some other stuff working before i could turn it back on or it would have turned the previews to garble. Holler if something isn't working like it should. ~J
  11. How do you all like the improvements? Anything you want to see? Anything you hate? Let us know in the feedback section. Thanks!

  12. Kate, why didn't we think of Pandora first?

  13. We're still working on the board. We appreciate your patience. Lots of improvements coming!

  14. Thoroughbred Leather is Jeff Ballard, who supplies Hidecrafters as well as many other clients- like RJF leather (one of the banner sponsors up above). Reputation is excellent for customer service for Roger (RJF leather) but as you know, individual hides may vary. As always, call or email with what your expectation from the supplier is so that they can either fill your request or tell you they can't and send you elsewhere. If you call Roger, tell him Johanna from LW sent you. I don't know if it will get you a deal or not, but it can't hurt to ask. Johanna
  15. Have you considered joining a leather guild? Many leather shops are one-man operations, and hardly anyone is "hiring" right now. If you want to improve your leather skills, you don't necessarily need a mentor, you need practice and LW. Johanna
  16. I remember my late husband advising to never sell the tools, there would always be food on the table. I closed the shop in between babies in 1999. Here it is, over 10 years later, and I'm still hooked on leather. Quitting drinking was easier! Welcome to LW! Pull up a chair, get some coffee and make yourself comfortable. We're all leather junkies- you have found your brothers and sisters. Johanna
  17. Hello, Arthur! Sorry, but even Oz can't control your cursor. Go into Control Panel> Mouse> and then the tab that says "pointer options". There is a box there you can tick that will make your cursor jump to the default position. It's usually called "snap to". Let me know if that helps! Johanna PS Thanks for the kind words about the forum! We're glad you're having fun here.
  18. Click on Ronnie's (Techsew) or Steve's (Cobra) banners on the top of the page- they have both made their videos available to anyone interested. Anyone that wants to make more videos is welcome to post them here on LW. We've got plenty of bandwidth, and lots of interested people. Whiz, Thank you for this. All the sewing machine guys are cheering you, and that tells me all I need to know about the accuracy of the info. You are helping people now and in the future by explaining in plain English the mysteries of leather sewing machines, and we appreciate the time and effort you're putting into the series. Johanna
  19. I've had trouble with java updates before. I go to the control panel, addremove programs and uninstall the old java, reboot, and then install the newest version. I know they released an update this week addressing a security issue, so I would go ahead and follow Ar's advice to update it. ~J
  20. Okay, all of you that asked are added. If you don't see the NSFW area by the Marketplace, log out, then back in again. Standard disclaimer- we take no responsibility for the really baaad jokes! ;-) ~J
  21. Steve Tayrien of Leather Machine Co. (Cobra Sewing Machines) graciously sent me this picture taken at the 17th Annual Rocky Mountain Leatherworkers Tradeshow in May 2010 in Sheridan, Wyoming. These five saddlers are all Al Stohlman Award Winners or nominees. From left to right: Jesse Smith, Al Gould, Bob Klenda, Don Butler, & Pete Gorrell. I had the honor of being invited to the ASMA breakfast, and had a chance to speak with these men, and a few other notable saddlers, and I appreciated the way they answered my questions and explained their work to me. Saddle makers do more than "make it look pretty", they value function and design. Thank you, Steve, for thinking of me! Johanna PS Steve mentioned that these five saddlers each own a Cobra class 4 "Dream Machine".
  22. Russell, DaveD, JWGlover & Leather Ink: I turned the adult section on for you shortly after I got your message. If you don't see the NSFW section by the Marketplace while logged in, try logging out, then in again. Fair warning- jokes are really baaaad. Johanna
  23. Call Tippmann and explain the problem. Tippmann is known for outstanding customer service, before and after the sale, so I'm sure they will make things right with you. Johanna
  24. We added a Leather History section as a result of this suggestion. I haven't heard from Xavier (candyleather) in a long time, and his email address bounces. I do hope all is well with him and he is just busy! We are kicking around the idea of expanding the sewing machine section. We do have quite a few experienced people that answer questions, so be sure to post any problems or ideas in that section, and you should be whizzing along with your new sewing machine in no time. Gerry, thank you for the kind words and your participation and support of LW. A pat on the back is better than a paycheck. Johanna
  25. Nice work, Rusty! Is it for you, a friend or a customer? I like the good brass hardware you used too. Johanna
