  1. I have made a concerted effort to design my own holsters with the idea of what would I carry. Then have found that what I would carry is so very similar to what I carry. I spend a lot of effort to be "original" and find that original has already been done. I have not even thought about the legal aspect of the designs but the respect aspect. I think I have a really cool design that I know can be done better faster by the likes of Garrity and Alessi because they have the equipment and the name recognition to benefit. But by the same token, the basic holster that my idea sets upon is more like another makers. I like leather work and respect greatly those that have gone before, I just want a consensus as to what is good form and what is understood among those that produce. I thank you all for the input and look forward to further opinion. It matters to me.
  2. I have a quandry. I have a few holsters that I bought for my service weapon. I then made a similar holster for another gun (a guy could go broke on holsters), I have people that I work for that need holsters and now I have the ability to make them. How much of a change is needed before other makers don't feel ripped-off or offended. I happen to have great respect for this maker and the others that I have seen here, as a matter of fact, so I don't want anyone mad. I just think that very few ideas are truely original anymore. Thanks for the opinions, Kevin
  3. I have now found how to get rich at this whole thing. I am offering nude butt mold services. Your amazing. I am sure that there will be a few that will want to take advantage of my professionalism, but I'll just have to deal with that.
  4. Man, that's funny. Good observation. I am still chuckling.
  5. So am I to understand that, for example, the 111 feet will not fit on the 3000? Or, I will keep a look out at Ferdco for the once a year feet sale. Is there a chance that the Juki feet will fit? I ask because I don't have an assortment to try. Thank again.
  6. I recently purchased a 3000. I like the center foot with the little spur on the bottom for straight stiching but will be grinding it off another center foot. I thought I would buy an extra one until I saw the price. Oh my hell. $100.00 for a tiny foot???? It would need to be made of gold. Does anyone know a resource for another foot supplier. I am sure that there are similar knock off machines that use a foot. I would really appreciate the help. Maybe a used foot? I will try the little lights and the thread. They are reasonably priced. Thanks.
  7. I would be interested in what he's asking.
  8. Oh Man! I JUST bought a 3000 this week. Bummer.
  9. The Top Coat in the background is in perfect focus. Nice holster by the way.
  10. " There is also a guy on Ebay selling western style, and bissonette style edgers made out of stainless flatware. So, I went out to the local junk shop and bought 4 stainless forks to give that a try, as well.....when I get the extra time, of course. That guy has posted here recently concerning his bissonette edgers. Maybe he will help you. ?????
  11. A beautiful place to live. I will look forward to reading your additions to the site. I have great interest in all types of saddles and English type riders seems to bauk less at a decent price for saddlery and tack.
  12. I find great value in this thread. I am at the beginning of this road. I am just learning and want to be the best possible, yet I don't want to "take it in the shorts" either. I believe in paying my due but when there are those that are faster full time and more qualified making less than I would think they could eat for, I feel funny telling those that want a saddle from me that my time is worth more than the "saddle master". I am in the process of purchasing the items that will make a premium saddle (and paying double the price from my wife), and it looks like I will never be able to pay for it. Thank goodness I have a "real job". That brings me to friends. They all want what I am turning out but know I have just begun to learn and want the cut rate. Leaving me to decide, do I earn next to nothing and learn giving opportunity for word of mouth to help in the long run or raise the price loose the "customer" and find a store to put what I am making in on consignment and take a fraction of what they are making on it? I came up with a great idea to solve a problem that I've had for the whole of my career in law enforcement and then look at the great holster makers like Tucker and Bianchi and the numerous others I have recently seen here, and see that I cannot charge enough to compete with them and still pay the bills. Boy, that turned into a rant. Thanks for listening. I have to go to work now. Kevin I hope that new sewing machine (if I ever receive it) sews really, really well.

    for sale on ebay

I see only the item for that listing. I see no others that are offered. Why don't you tell us what your selling and what your looking to get for them?
  14. I HATE when people steal my ideas before me! Now how am I going to get rich? Where do I find this Bianchi cutter so I can see if he did it right?
  15. I know it will work. I see it in my head, clearly. I just am not a manufacturer. I am an idea man. I also know that I hate strap guages...alot. I will lay a steel ruler down and cut by hand to avoid that frustration.
  16. I would really like to see the Williams strander also. Everytime I need to cut a strap of any kind I lament the use of a strap guage. It doesn't make sense to me to have all that drag way to the outside of your support. Specially when I need to cut a billet or something like it. I think the handle should be hooked to the blade portion not the guide portion.
  17. We have a few colonies here in Montana. Hard working up at dawn type of people. No die makers though.
  18. I am glad that you posted about the light. I was wondering as to its usefulness and quality. Thank you.
  19. I agree with the above also. Differnt tool for a different job. When I am patroling in the winter with lots of snow and wet I am just much better off with a quality man-made material all around. I have heard of the breaking holster and the jabbing release but I think that the hype is greater than the actual. That being said, I still would not carry the Serpa until they figure out a fix. I obviously have a preference to leather.
  20. Amen to the above. One minute was fine. The next was a wrinkled mess that turned brittle and broke. It really broke.

    Bone folders

Well, that even looks like a antler. I thought you had shaped and inlaid gold or something. I can comprehend its use the way it is. Thank you for the post.

    Bone folders

I'd like to bump this to the top again in hopes of seeing a photo of a deer horn boner......thx
  23. A little side track..... I understand that Henley knives are good and Chuck Smith knives are good and some others as well I'm sure. What is the diffence between the Smith and Henleys that would make a $30 diffence in value? Thanks to all.
