  1. @Dwight Thank you for the reply, Dwight.
  2. I was wondering from all you sandal professionals, do you line the leather straps with a nylon or webbing to increase strength? Similar with the midsole. Would a nylon canvas provide durability for thinner soles? Neoprene or sheet cork? I saw a video suggesting a wooden tongue depressor for a shank to provide rigidity. Would you? I am very open to what makes handmade sandals well worth the making. Other above-average things to add to a design. Thank you all.
  3. I came here to research exactly this! I hope that you were successful. I have been trying to find the correct combination as well for a firm and yet flexible sandal and flip-flop construction. What did you determine?
  4. I know this a very dated thread, but I really appreciate your pictures, you are doing what I am just beginning to learn. Thank you.
  5. Yup. If there are choices, take the other one.
  6. I do projects that are both leather and material. KAMsnaps seems to be the quality product for bagmakers. I’ve heard fans of the Buckleguy. For those that have used both companies/presses what did you like or dislike? Range of application?
  7. Interesting. Thank you. That would be cool if true. I'll ask.
  8. Hardrada and others, good job with the assistance. I can't even begin to count the number of times that people make a newbie suffer for the sin of not knowing and asking. By simply saying "buy good tools" often you are speaking Greek, as a true newbie couldn't possibly know what that is without an example. I'm going through this with the watching kidding groups. Don't be like them. Don't be knowledgeable and worthless.
  9. Wow. That was great to read. You all are very knowledgeable.
  10. Keystones is a good crew. I drove from Va to Their store for machine service. They did it while I got lunch. Highly recommend.
  11. Rleather. Thank you. They told me today that it is slightly different. Made foreign, as is Weavers. Too bad they don't have one that is line the 8 ton. Really what I'm after. Both Weaver and SLC are out of stock.
  12. So, I have been casually in the market for at least an 8 ton press for a while. Weaver is out of stock and has been. The 4 ton press from Springfield looks amazingly like the 4 ton from Weaver? Differences? I am looking for other companies that have presses in stock and experiences with quality and service? Thank you. Does Weaver even make there own clicker presses?
  13. So, how did this GO? I was looking for similar handful of tools. I am in No. Va.
  14. How is this sale going? Sold?
  15. I am interested. Where are you located?
  16. I will make the wild assumption that this old post is no longer available. A dead link? Done and the information is gone? Just providing closure perhaps.
  17. cltech9, interesting. I'm a Barge fan, but shipping is a pain. Youd think it was symtex or something with all the restrictions.
  18. I believe you. I have been dreading purchasing from McPhersons or Montana Leather because of this. I have been stationed in the Va., DC area and am looking to get back to some projects after a long hiatus. Here we go...
  19. I have often wondered why one of these companies over the other. There are a few differences, but not many significant. The after sale service is HUGE for me...I'm not so bright by myself, ya know. I'd LOVE a Juki, but simply cannot justify a cost like those are going for. The guys that contribute to this forum are very nice and seem very professional in their dealings. They certainly play nice together. Now...which to choose...?
  20. I can't even begin to count the number of times I've chosen to NOT purchase based on unreasonable shipping. Like a padded profit margin...I like stuff. Lots. But, I hate the unreasonable more.
  21. Amazing woodworking. Very inspirational. I found you while looking up examples to build my own. You are just what I needed. However, I would be interested in what you are asking for one you've made. I like supporting the good work of others. besides, I've never steamed wood myself.
  22. Not sure what a servers wallet is. Do you mean like a notepad cover?
