  1. I made one for myself and wear it everywhere. It is a crossbody, U-shaped, simple satchel type made of 2 compartments, one for lady things and the other for my gun and magazine. It has a decorative front flap and an unadorned (not very noticeable) back flap with a magnetic snap for the gun side. The holster is sewn to the inside back compartment, and I have a cell phone pocket on the outside in order to conceal the gun shaped stitching line. Everything is very heavy duty, and it weighs a ton with my .45 in it. I can’t imagine making one for sale as it took so long to make and women are pretty particular about their purses’ style.
  2. I like to save copies of symbols or line drawings to Word in order to resize them.
  3. I went and bought the Tandy Hi Liter after reading the last post. The color is very nice.
  4. I'm no expert but I like Hi-Liter and use it all the time because it is so easy. The first picture is with hi-liter alone, the second is over different colors.
  5. Hi, I would open the book and trace its outline, then add 1/4 inch on all sides. It is better to be too big than to damage somebody's special book. Good luck and show us some pictures please!
  6. I just glued it. It seems to be a really good bond. I figured if it starts to separate I can always go back and stitch it or give it some "decorative" rivets.
  7. Hi, Thanks for the responses. This is the purse I made. I used the smooth outside of the leather piece for the bottom because it will stay cleaner, and sewed the rough side for the bag's sides. The horses are pockets. I would do alot of things differently the next time around, but it was a good learning experience.
  8. Hello, I am new to leather and leather handbag fabrication, but not fabric. I bought a "grab bag" of large leather pieces, figuring I'd find a use for them. They are lightweight, and rather shiny and flamboyantly colored on the finished side. I'm a country girl and would really prefer using the back sides facing out, which look more like suede (a little rough) with much more muted colors. Would this be considered horrible? Thank you for reading, Ugh, Flesh side out. Not sure how to go back and fix the spelling! Edit: Fixed the title for you.
