  1. I hear you Joe, it doesn't help that with the square one I accidentally used a different weight of leather and just rolled with it. I didn't do t-shaped because I was following Nigel's video, and, frankly, my t-shaped cuts always end up crooked. I'm gonna have to find something really rigid I can cut perfectly into that shape.
  2. Here are some things I have done recently. The two card wallets are basically a copy of NIgel's YouTube video on how to make a wallet. I find the rounded edge one to have a much more finished look than the square one and it's a hell of a lot easier to burnish in a fluid motion. I used pigskin splits for lining. The second is just a simple clutch. I made it to practice stitching. I realize the flap is uneven and the clasp is off centered, although I'm not sure how I did either. So I had to do some readjusting and added the leaf so it takes the eye away from the screw-ups. More.
  3. Hey chrstn53, what you're looking for is an iron-on adhesive. I found this one in a quick google search: Heat'n Bond. It's a double-sided adhesive that you just iron on.
  4. The first thing you should do is price out the wallet's raw cost. Find the cost per square inch, add for hardware, and add for waste material. Then put your cost on top of that. Not every wallet will cost the same. It depends on the type and amount of leather used.
  5. They use skiving machines that cut the leather very thin.
  6. Looks very sturdy. You've inspired me to make my own so that's my next project!
  7. I don't think it's really possible to do so. Unless you could somehow bring the bag down open side so you're holding just the backside of the leather. Otherwise you'll just have to do it without the pony.
  8. There was a sale on suede splits and I got a couple. Now I'm sitting here and not really sure what to make. What kind of little project can I try and make with a suede split? Randahl suggested moccasins.
  9. HI, I'm fairly new to leatherwork and I'm having trouble finding patterns for things I'm interested in making, ie. wallets. All of the patterns that show up in my searches are either from pinterest or from tandy's leathercraft library and there isn't much to go on. Do you have any places to look when trying to find patterns? Or do you make them all yourself? I feel that, as someone new to leatherwork, I'd rather follow an already proven design than to try making my own and possibly waste leather because I don't know what I'm doing. After trying out a few patterns, I can then delve into creating my own patterns after seeing what works and what doesn't.
