  1. Hello, it wasn't me who asked for the information you posted, however the price and the name has caught my attention. I've searched the web for pictures of the machine, but not sure I'm looking at the right one. Would you please post a picture of the machine if you have one? thank you, Daniel.
  2. I hope it helps, I wish I would've known this 11 months ago. To finish my earlier thoughts, if any one is looking for a shop press, a friend of mine told me the best place to shop for one is on craigslist/tool section. Any one living in the SF bay area, there's a really nice press for $100 bucks. I'd like to get it but I don't have the room for it. Daniel
  3. About 10 months ago I purchased the pictured shop press from Harborfreight. Without much research, the only thing I did right was purchasing the 12 ton jack instead of buying the cheaper 6 ton. After some research on the pressses, some members recommend spending more money on other brands besides Harborfrieght. As a Harborfreight customer I want to inform any one who's thinking of getting a harborfreight shop press, don't! Spend a little more money and get the more expensive one, and here's why. Harborfreight shop press has a 1 inch diameter pressure rod. When I first started using the press 3 weeks ago, it did the job I wanted but I had to release the pressure rod and move it around stamp. The other brands have a wider pressure rod which helps distribute the pressure evenly, eliminating the need to press one item 3 to 4 times. Eventually I fixed the problem when I purchased steel to use the press as a clicker. I removed the thin pressure rod the press came with and I had a friend weld the pictured 4x4x6 squared metal rod. With the added metal, the press works evenly and I get really crisp basketweave prints such as the one pictured. In the long run, if I would've spent the money to get the right press from the beginning, I would've been using the press 10 months ago instead of now.
  4. will give it a try, thanks for the info. Daniel
  5. Thanks, I used to buy them from there, but the no longer carries the item. I'm hoping there's another carrier out there where I can buy them. Daniel.
  6. I used to buy these types of clips from Knifekits.com, however I don't see it on their website any more. does any one out there know where else I can purchase them? Knifekits had them labeled as maxx clips, however I have not been able to find them on the internet. any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Daniel.
  7. Harbor freight has a photography box with lights, and camera for less than 40 bucks. Don't know how good it is, but looks good. hope it helps, Daniel
  8. Thanks for the reply, I contacted the Ohio Travel bag co. and it appears they have what I need. I also found other supplies I needed from them. Thank you, Daniel.
  9. I need to use actual brass line 20 for a project, but the only place i know to purchase them is from Tandy. Tandy only sells the brass plated line 20 snaps. In the past, I've used their line 20 black chrome snaps which fade quickly. Has any one ever used the brass plated from Tandy, if so, how long does the brass color stay. I'd also like to know if there's an actual black color line 20 snap, not the chrome type but paint type, similar to the finish from the segma snaps. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely Daniel
  10. The one that's listed on ebay, I purchased for the set price, didn't know better. I later located a harbor freight tools location near my house and found that the one from HF is the same that as the one from ebay, only it cost $50 dollars. The only modification was the steel plate at the bottom where the arm pushes down against. In my opinion, the extra money was not justified, cause I could've made the plate myself. At the time, I didn't know any better. Don't wast your money. Daniel
  11. Don't bother buying the tools. I was suckered into getting them and it was a waste of money. Dan
  12. I had my doubts, even after I purchased it, but after seeing the video (which was something I asked for in one reply) I know I made the right decision. Thanks Bob.
  13. Art it's the correct link, when you click on it, scroll down, then click for more coupons which will route you to next page. Daniel.
  14. The actual price at the store is 12.99, here's a link to a coupon for $10.99. Daniel http://www.harborfreightusa.com/usa/emails...mp;r=3253_48865
  15. for any one who's purchased this product and does not want to mess with the wiring, Harbor freight tools sells the pictured foot switch for about $10 bucks. Daniel
  16. Okay, after hearing many positive things, I made my decision and I bought mine from. Can wait to get it, hopefully I'll have the same positive feed back as the rest of you. Bree thanks for your help. Daniel.
  17. Thanks Art, you're opinion is always appreciated. I do apologize if I sounded like I was bragging about the machine, that's not the case at all. I was trying to explain that for my budget, it's what I could afford, and I'm truly happy with it. I've also experienced the customer service from Artisan, and let me say, it is the best.
  18. I also respect your comment, but truth is, I have a smile now.
  19. With the prediction that the Toro 3000 was going up in price, which came true, I purchased a new sewing machine. Sorry, I wasn't a Toro 3000 (at least by name), but I did get a Ludwig 441. The machine is currently advertised on Ebay for about $2050, plus shipping and handling. The other motivation for my purchase was the fact that I only live 4 hours away from Redding CA. I drove up state, purchased the machine, and brougt it home. I've heard a lot of comments on customer service from the Toro, and i'm sure it's unbeatable, however, Jim from Ludwig has also been very helpful. If you want to save yourself a few bucks, I strongly recommend this machine. I've ordered several accessories for the machine and shipping has been fast. For the price, you do have to inquire about the motor that it comes with, but you can arrange it with the company to have the one you want. I arranged to have the Sewquiet 4000 which gives me absolute control when I'm using it. Here's two pictures, and the major difference between the toro and the ludwig, is the pedestal, and the name. As stated, for the price, you can't beat this deal.
  20. great question, I noticed it went up $10 dollars from last week, if there is a discount, I'm in for one, any one else?
  21. Hey Luke, on my previous post I was referring to you treadle mount. Although mine is way different, I got the idea from you. Great set-up, Daniel.
  22. Ivan, I noticed your motor set-up, and reading the replies it sounds great. Do you have actual step by step pictures on how to work your gadget? still new here and learning, and deciding if I want to invest on it. thanks, Daniel.
  23. Rick, you don't have to buy a bench, there's other options out there. A while back, I noticed that someone (I forget who) from this site mounted it on an old Singer treadle bench. It was really neat the way it was set up. One day I was driving by a garage sale when I noticed an old table for sale. I bought the table for $5 bucks, I screwed a piece of plywood at the bottom, and added wheels. It probably cost me about $30 bucks total. Later I added a Tippman embosser on the opposite end, and a few months ago, I added my cutter. I use a standard plastic chair nothing fancy, and works great. I can move the table out of the way to clean up. Here's two pictures of it, I hope it helps, Daniel.
  24. to any one who is thinking of hiring tangent creations, I needed them to custom make spring steel metal backing for holsters that I make. They charged me a fair price and the product they delivered was exactly what I wanted. They did a great job, and I will order from them in the near future. Tangent Creations, thanks again. Daniel
  25. L/Bum, I do believe I found what I'm looking for. Thank you so much. Sincerely, Daniel.
