Lacing makes more sense. Lol. It just a simple wrap lace job with hand cut 1/2” wide chrome tan split. The welt was stitched before the lacing. -

If you are thinking this was done with a laser you are mistaken. This was stamped with a Sergey Stamp. No laser was anywhere near this rig. -

A fellow wanted to get married in a rig. So I made an effort to make it special.

I don't have a name for the border but you can order the smaller stamp from Clay Miller tools. It's called the Whitaker Border Stamp. The idea was to emulate the engraved borders I saw on engraved firearms.

Yes, the rifle is tooled onto vegtan and sewn to the leather that wraps the scabbard.

Thanks for the compliment. This client came to me once and I told him I wasn't interested in doing it unless he acquired a metal scabbard base that would securely and safely be mounted to the bike. 6 months pass and he shows up with a sheet steel scabbard with welded mounting points. The interior is lined so the rifle has a comfy place. I attached the carved image to a dark oil tanned leather 6/7oz if I recall. The oil tanned base completely wraps the metal scabbard base. The "lid" is secured with the buckle strap you see on both sides. The rifle is further secured by a 1/4" thick steel insert fastened with hasp and padlock. Unless you remove the padlock and lift it away from the scabbard, you cannot remove the rifle from the scabbard. It was cumbersome at times but I think it was worth it.

I like your stamping choices. I think there ought to be a crease line on the loop though...just my opinion, i think there should be a crease line on all single thickness edges. -

Start with Chestnut Wickett & Craig. Once finished and assembled, give it a GOOD slathering with pure neatsfoot oil. When the oil has penetrated, liberally apply Feibings medium brown antique stain (liquid, not the paste.) When the antique is dry, pull off the stain with wet paper towels until you stop getting color on the paper towel. When dry from the wet paper towels, seal with resolene. Finish with a dusting of spray shine. easy pessy -
