Help I Think I Stripped A Gear Or Something?
Carrieanna1172 replied to Carrieanna1172's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I do not know how to set the timing The bobbin case is not turning and I can see and where the two gear underneath are not catching or connecting with each other If I rotate the bobbin by hand then step on the peddle the connect for a couple of turns and then the bobbin stops turning and I can hear the gears grazing each other -

I'm going to try to include two videos of what the machine is doing Consew 227 I was using a 22 needle and 138 thread sewing Two 6 to 7 oz pieces of veg tan leather together I personally Felt like the needle and thread were to large for this but was following a chart I found online Anyway right out of the gate maybe 10 ugly stitches in it made funny noise like a gear stripping ? Any ideas I took stuff apart put back together tried to reset the timing ? The bobbin case is not turning properly and if you can see the videos the the two gears ? Teeth under the bobbin case are not Catching / connecting with each other trim.825033DA-9083-4780-8D7E-ABFD737648C9.MOV

Yes a little donation the the local economy via the casino is probably in order 😉 That's to bad last years show was not impessivive they did have comment about taking time to build this thing up ? So idk maybe it will be worth my drive we shall see I know the auction zip sight had a list of stuff for auction some pictures also -
Was thinking about going to this show in March 20th it sounds like there will be a lot of leather dealers and Vendors there The ad said it was put on by Moser Leather and this is the 2nd annual? Not sure what's up for auction exactly but I'm hoping to look at feel and buy ( stock up on some leather) And get maybe some good deals and contacts Has anyone been to this or a show like this with wholesale leather dealers?

I fixed it by turning the needle a tiny bit And I cleaned the bobbin area really good but I think on this machine it has to have the needle turned With the eye slightly towards me also to pick up the bobbin thread correctly Anyway it is working perfectly now Thanks

Good info thank you The one I want to learn on (ie that I have available for practice is a 38 special stub nose) detective Or a smith and Wesson Mt ACP 45 Or a 22 colt Challenger I would like to start with the stub nose and make a conceal and carry but over the belt My first probably stupid question, idk some holsters I have seen have the trigger guard covered and some don't? Don't know why this is?

Ok 2 part question - The show in Sheridan Wy Just wondering if you get good deals on leather when you attend a show like that ? Or is it mostly to look at try out new products? Looks like a lot of venders ? And some interesting classes just no holster making for beginers
-
I would love to take a beginers holster making class But most of the ones I have found so far require intermediate leather working skills and knowledge Anyone know of any beginer classes or just the best place to start?

Ahaha yes happy early birthday! That's being positive!
