  1. Well happy late birthday!
  2. Ok update I have done the laser jet pattern transfer on other material And it works but I just tried it on leathe and not so much ? So before anyone goes and ruins a perfectly good piece of leather There may be a way to do it but it didn't work for me ?
  3. Thanks A full time cobbler . that profession I'm afraid, has gone by the wayside That would be pretty cool to see Thanks for the info !
  4. thanks Hoosiers!
  5. Rlkey Very nice ! Nice color choice
  6. This is a great way to transfer a pattern also works on wood etc but if you have a laser jet instead of an inkjet printer You can use heat , an iron will transfer it One note though be extra careful if you are burning over it the fumes can be toxic One more thing I have done if you can't get your wax paper thru use a glue stick to glue it to thicker paper or card stock Some printers are finicky
  7. Having trouble attaching ?
  8. Here's my version of this great little pattern to do as a gift
  9. I burn on the leather and to add color I use an airbruch machine and dye I have have never made shoes? This may just be the start of another project then ? I , May just have to give it a go Maybe a dumb question but then how would you attach the soles to the uppers Hand sewing I suppose and then would you seal the soles with something ? Shoes are new to me ..? Guess I need to do some research
  10. I may be posting to the wrong board? Was thinking I would like to find someone to make me a set of something like these Unfinished so I could burn them Wondering what something like these would cost me?
  11. I printed it on a tiled setting and then you have to piece it together like a puzzle. In this paticular one there were only 2 pieces I taped them together then glued them to poster board to cut out Some printers you will have to use a poster setting Or you can also save as a JPEG and take to staples They charge $ .60 a foot however Good luck!
  12. Hey all Grew up In Indiana but settled in Central Illinois Loving the leather working and so many knowledgable and helpful people here! Love this sight! A lot of Good folks on here !
  13. does the buffing and rubbing also go for that Usmc black by fiebings? I love how dark and black that is but I am buffing and buffing and using a fiebings conditioner and I'm still Getting bleeding I think I need to buy a buffer ?
  14. All good advice I put the bigger thread in hoping it would help because it had never happened until I used that smaller Tandy thread Anyway apparently it was not the thread I changed the needle and I will put in a new spool of thread in the 69 I also cleaned all the little spots and places the thread runs through Hope this help ! Thanks for the advice
  15. One was by 69 from Tandy and This one now is 92
  16. Anyone hazard a guess as to why my thread is shredding? I have changed thread sizes loosened the tension? Tightened it back up It happened the first time with some thread I bought from tandy thought maybe it was the wrong or not bonded kind so I changed back to the thread I purchased with the machine It appeared to be happening at the upper tension disk at first but now it looks like it is happening at the needle? Very frustrating ? I am sewing about 5 oz oil tan (called Kodak) leather the majority is double thickness as much as 4 layers? Not that this matters it tends to happen at just 2 layers? a size 18 needle
  17. Gotta check it out May I have access please?
  18. Yes wiz crafts absolutely intend on contacting these guys! I sent an inquiry to Toledo on there online web form already a week or so ago they did me right with that consew they were very helpful. Just wasn't sure if I should be leaning towards one brand or another but I will be doing some inquiring over the next couple of months to find out what I should be Looking for
  19. jlseather- yes I would love that if I could find anyone even remotely near me that was a dealer? I have googled to no end I have called my local Cinsumer machine dealer and mechanic he referred me to someone he heard of in St. louis not to terribly far but that guy apparently is out of business? Anyway not really finding a dealer near me Chicago was the other pop up I got in my search I would prefer St. Louis over Chicago but ? Idk Cobra Steve I will Definitly do that ! I was hoping to find someone close to me just because Im intimidated by prospect of yearly servicing and if there is a mechanical issue? But I will call to discuss
  20. Ps my other machines for my everyday sewing are computerized Janome embroidery machines I know this may mean nothing to you but just trying to give you an idea of what I am used to working on
  21. Question: I admit I have done zero leg work in looking for a new machine I'm hoping one of you fine fellows can lead me in the right direction. I am thinking of buying a new machine but I would like one with all the bells and whistles Definitely reverse stitching , Thread cutting, auto up down needle position, Extra large bobbin ! And maybe someone a dealer who could service it in Illinois? Iowa or missouri even This may be a pipe dream just because if something like this exists it's probably well out of my price range but it's good to have a base to start I sew mostly mens bags, rucksacks , back packs and the like but My goal is to transition into holsters and Knife sheaths I bought a used consew 227 last year and it is great to work on ! I have learned a lot about working with leather but I want more features?
  22. Thanks for the help I am still not sure how exactly but it is fixed!!! I re threaded again and rethreaded a new bobbin it seemed to be a bit loose and there was something catching the thread in the upper tension and sort of fraying it new thread new bobbin and viola ! Thanks again !
  23. Help my consew 227 is skipping stitches! Anyone had this problem or know how to fix I have re threaded bobbin, changed threads Changed needle everything can't figure out why it's doing this I just finished a project and it sewed fine As soon as I started again this happened ?
  24. Wow thank you again I am loving all these patterns This should keep me busy for some time! You are most generous !
  25. Awesome! Thank You
