Another red handbag
olenawills replied to olenawills's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Old cast irons I have purchased from the local estate sales. They usually very cheap, because they heave and difficult to re-sale them, because of the weight and postage costs. 3-5$ per piece enough to pay. I have 3-5lb to work with patterns and one heavy 15lb ( I think) for some occasional work. -
Thanks everyone, tool has been sold and on its way to the new owner.

Bag is somewhere in London now. My sister have already left with it. Very happy person. When she came to visit, she brought 3 rolls of yellow aluminum oxide sandpaper in her suitcase for me . I couldn't find it here in a rolls, so I ordered it in UK. So, my work is appreciated -

Thank you very much. Every comment is appreciated. -
Another handbag just finished. This is my first serious work, all leather and hand stitched. Took me about a month (evenings and weekends) to finish it. Birthday gift for my sister. Red cows leather, black lamb lining, ecru linen thread. Some mistakes are learned. Going to re-make it later for myself.

billybopp, i bought ADECE tool with REGAD tips. Tips are from different steel and handles are better balanced. Randal tool was perfect for the beginner and helped me to understand what I want.

Hello everyone. i have recently purchased a new tool for my leather work from Mando and going to sell my used edge creasing tool from Campbell Randall. I had it for about 1 year. Good working order and nice price to start with compared to French Regad tool. I have an electric handle, adaptor , three heads and a stepless transformer that I bought separately. This transformer was suggested by my husband's electrical engineer based on the technical characteristics of the original transformer from the sellers web site. For the tool and tips I paid about $196.00 + transformer ( was about $20-$30). I'll add more pictures tonight. These are the pictures of the original invoices from my payment history. If if anyone interested to buy it, please PM me your offer. Thank you very much and have a good day.

Those seams are necessary because they covering inside of the side seams. Lining has permanently glued to the leather. -

I do mark edges with the creasing iron, then punch with the Blanchard iron. I have only a short irons, 6 teeth, so that why it can get uneven. I am only doing leatherwork for year and half, so need a lot of practice. Holes on the decorative side seams and leather strip inside, that covering seams are made separately, then pieces were aligned later during stitching process. Don't forget to make holes from the correct sides in this case:) Covering strip has to be punched from the wrong ( reverse) side to much punched angled holes. I can add more pictures that I took with my phone, but I don't have too many of them. I did trial bag for my mom previously and learned my mistakes there -

Decorative holes are pre-punched with Blanchard irons (No 8). Internal seams like sides and bottom are pre-punched with the unloaded sewing machine in order to keep even distance. My edges are far from perfect. I use paint, heat treatment, sandpaper, but I am not a big fan of this paint. Bought Vernice 600, looks much better compared to Fenice. I know, that I need more practice and more coats of paint/sanding. -

It took me about a week. Lots of the little details took time. It would be much quicker if I used a machine. -

Yes, handles are stitched like the original one, through the pocket. Feet are functional and pretty as well. -

I am continue working on my progress and trying new materials and technics. About a year ago I started to make my small bags Chanel style. Now I am trying to do all my work by hend using saddle stitches. This is my last bag. Design was after a famous Louis Vuitton Neverfull. This bag has a unique vintage floral canvas lining from England, I used a very last piece that I had. Bag is 100% hand stitched with "Fil au Chinois" Waxed Linen Thread. Lampoo zippers. Handles will turn into a darker golden-honey color as time goes on. Fenice edge paint. What else? I think I love very much. I am just a woman who likes fashionable pieces and I glad I can make some myself. Comments are welcome. -

Same cost as on original web-site. 18.75 (per 1kg) -black 24.00 -red 24.00 hazel price will be recalculated accordingly to weight. For example: 8oz jar takes 230r of paint, so price will be: 24.00 x 0.230 = or 18.00 x 0.230 = + jar + shipping -

Hi everyone Apparently you can get Stahl edge paint in USA if you find a right people At the moment I am waiting for an email back with the prices and minimum quantities. They sell in 1 qt or 1 gallon. Price and min quantity depends on colors. If it's a basic black - you can buy less and it cheaper. If some sort of bright red - it's a gallon and price slightly expensive. Postage from the supplier via UPS ground, takes about 3 days to get it here, to NY. Can not be shipped if outside temperature is too low. As far as I was informed, average price is $36.00 per gallon + shipping - will be included in the total price and shared between members. I am willing to organize a group buy if anyone interested. I'll take a 10% (from basic price) organization fee + $0.95 price of the HDPE bottle and lid. Order is - 8oz bottle per person - 4 people red 1qt or 16 people per gallon. I am not sure if it sold by weight or by volume. Shipping to you via USPS Priority mail (up to 3 days) - paid individually depending on your location. US only. Payment via PayPal as family or friends, unless you want to pay PayPal fees as well. Tracking via PM. If anyone interested, please PM or reply to this post with color you interested and how much would you like to take , I'll write it down and we might be able to get what we need. I am personally interested in black, brown (dark or light) and red. Thanks for looking . Olena. This is the picture from Hermes Asia show from 2011
