  1. The canvas I used is water resistant, your recipe sounds good I am going to try it. Off the top of my head I could add a couple of dee rings but hiding the strap will need more thought? @Red Bear Haraldson That pouch is looking good. I like the tooling and I had never thought about using one of those clips. I feel another one will need to be made.
  2. cseeger I am one of the many who have downloaded your pattern and would like to say a big "Thank You" A couple of pictures of what I managed to create.
  3. Wow! Thanks for all the interest and replies. The Forager Pouch can be used for anything really, the idea being that you would wear it on your belt as an easy to get to extra pocket. So if you were out walking and came across a black berry bush and the fruit was ripe for the picking then you could unfold the pouch and stash them safely. Or if you were wild camping you could collect tinder and keep it safe for later. The details The pouch is a 9" x 9" pocket simply stitched to form a square (I guess it could be an oblong) made from Hood canvas (as I could not source any waxed canvas). When it is folded in to its leather roll the dimensions are approx 3 1/4 x 3 1/4 x 1 1/2 inches. I used a 6/7 oz piece of leather for the pouch and the main piece is 8 1/2 x 3 1/4 The pouch is sandwiched between 2 bits of leather and stitched through both. The inner bit is approx 2 1/2 in sq. The belt loops are also caught by the same line of stitching as it gave a nice clean look. The inner patch can be seen in the pic below and the belt loops in the following one. Is that enough detail? If you want more just ask.

  10. I really like the look of that alligator pattern. Nice work. It should look awesome when finished. Rich
  11. Thanks for the replys. The link gives most of the information I need to get started mocking up a template.
  12. I have been asked if I can make one of these: And I think it is fairly straight forward but would of course would be much eaiser with a pattern. So does anyone have one or know where I can find one and what its proper name is? Thanks in advance.
  13. Once again thanks for all the great reply's. It has given me plenty to think about also some great tips but most of all a bit more confidence Richard
  14. What an amazing set of reply's. I emailed LZ Patterns and this is the reply; "I like 2mm leather very much, but actually 2.5mm leather is OK too, 1.8mm is OK too LOL This is the character of vegetable tanned leather, )" As the response was so quick I decided to by the pattern. There are not any instructions, but having seen the pattern, DANDTON's post and a careful watch of Nigel's video it looks pretty straight forward. I might even be brave enough to post some pictures here if it turns out half decent.
  15. Thanks for the reply. Would I be right in thinking the gusset piece is a thinner weight of leather than front and back?
  16. Hi New to leather work and the forum and looking for some help and advice. I would like to make a bag similar to the one in this picture attached but can not figure out the best way to get the gusset to form the nice rounded corners and the correct technique to do it. A search on this forum and google has not been successful (wrong terms I knowing me), so apologies if its been asked before. I look forward to the help
