  1. Tutorial!!! BTW, the leafy wooden looking one is great! Can see why it was the pride and joy :D
  2. I love the worn scale pattern as well!
  3. I also got ideas from scrollsaw/woodworking designs. Just a way to have different mediums cross over
  4. That's very cool. Good job on it!
  5. Well hey there! Glad to see you over here as well :D
  6. I'm looking forward to watching it as well, alsthough I don't think they cast Richard very well from what I've seen in teh trailer. We'll just have to wait. I know Goodkind has been waiting for the right people to allow a movie set up, so this'll be interesting. I would like to see more Discworld movies too. Hogfather was great! Probably my favorite Christmas movie now. (Now I just have to go and read the books lol)
  7. Well, if that doesn't help you with your saddlery research I don't know what will!
  8. Hehe. I know when he was in Biloxi, everyone was like "Jim, we love ya, but could you go somewhere else." Seriously, if you want to know where it's going to hit and get bad, find Jim.
  9. I'm about three hours from the coast (in the Jackson, MS area), but right now I'm just waiting to see if my Gulf Coast relatives come up or not (they're in Bay St. Louis). Fortuently we did most of our emergency prep shopping a few days ago (well, more like mom sending me out to go do it). I also bought gas that day (good thing too, I paid $3.36/gal, Dad bought it today at $3.60+/gal when he went to fill up the lawn mower). Got water, paper plates, filled up a propane tank, all that good stuff. Spent the morning trying to clean out the garage to prepare for aunt/uncles' pack of big dogs to be housed in there. Now it's a matter of sit and wait and clean. And keep The Weather Channel on. I'll start worrying big time when the send Jim Cantore out.
  10. Whoo Hoo! Love it when I remember something correctly :D
  11. I saw a technique/tutorial somewhere once about how to get a grained look. Going from memory, mind you, but I think the technique involved wetting the leather, then rolling it up multiple times in multiple directions to give it a texture. I think it was then stained to the new creases got an old antiqued look. Maybe someone else can give you more details. If not, well, scrap leather and experimenting is always fun :D
  12. Now I know what to do with that crate of antlers collecting dust. I'm sure I have one in there that'll work!
  13. Thanks, although I've started seeing them quite a bit lately by other people (guess it's easier to figure out than the outlines *shrugs*) -Wolf
  14. Lots of experimenting, headaches, pain releivers, time, patience, a few cuss words along the way, and a large dose of creativity and secretiveness. Honestly though, that's probably the number one question I get. But it's my little trick in the bag, for now anyways
  15. This is one of my most popular on deviantArt. My first real outline style dream catcher. (I apologize for the poor photo quality on this and the next. They're my two largest dream catchers at about 2'x3' or so, and I've had lots of issues taking pictures of them). And it's 'twin'. Made at the same time as the wolf above. This one is actually part of an art trade, but I haven't heard back from the other person in almost two years, so I still have it. I'm thinking it'll become sort of a portfolio piece. Full details and description of the details can be read here. And I have more to upload, but I think I'll wait so I don't bombard you too much at once :D -Wolf
  16. Ok, since I've been, uh, asked by BillB to upload some dream catchers, here are a few of my favorites that I've done. Enjoy. This was an art trade with a friend off of dA. This puppy got shipped all the way to Eidenburg, Scotland! This was my first commissioned dream catcher by a proffessor looking for a Christmas present for a friend. Currently lives somewhere in Alaska.
  17. Well, how about I find the right forum and post one just for you? Actually, I'm going to lazy (or efficent, depending you your point of view). I've done quite a few, and rather than post each one individually... Dream Catchers Leatherwork I supply links to the galleries
  18. Hey y'all! I actually joined a while ago but got busy with real life and stuff. So I have now decided to emerge and show myself. I know quite a few people are going to recognize me from deviantArt (here), so to those, I say well met, again. As for the rest, nice to meet you all. I also co-moderate the LeatherArtisans club on the site as well. I started leatherworking as a kid, but quit for a few years and now I'm reintroducing myself to the craft (and the craft to me). I've done everything from keychains, a wallet, cell phone cases, coasters, leather rings, and pictorial carvings. I also developed a new technique with dream catchers that's original and no, I prefer to keep the secret to myself for a while longer. Anyways, that's my short introduction, and I hope to add more stuff when I get things settled in real life and have time. Love looking at all the great stuff on here -Wolf
