  1. Love it!great work, espcially the lettering and color.

I only used "inflow" dye ,never "covering" type.so there is no white in my work:head_hurts_kr:

Thank you, Boma. I haven't had a lot of luck painting things that get hard use. I think for those I should have just used dyes.

  2. Very Nice Work!

    Thank you, Johnny!

That is some serious work. You_Rock_Emoticon.gif

Not just the tooling, but the coloring/gilding/dye job your've done on it.

What is the size of that?

Thank you! The diameter to the outside gold border was 14".

A fantastic job on this - and again some inspiration I get from this board for future projects. Never thought of a clock till now. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you, Stephan. I was stuck on another project a while ago and someone suggested making a clock out of it. Now everything looks like a clock! :)

Very nice with great lettering, that's going to make someone very happy. If you don't mind me asking, what did you use for the gold colour?

Thanks, Andrew. I used Angelus acrylic. I think I either got it from http://peasandcornco.com/shoeandleathercare/angelusacrylicpaint.asp or from http://turtlefeathers.net/text/angelus/paint.html .

  3. Hi Ray-

I personally do not like the aluminum shovels. For me, the snow seems to stick to aluminum more than plastic. You'll end up knocking as much off of the shovel as you do scooping. Only real tip I'd relay would be to get a shovel with the ergonomic handles on them. Easier on the back than the straight handles. Keep after the snowfall- it's easier to shovel an inch or two at a time than to try to tackle 2 feet all at once. :P

    Hi Crystal,

Like everybody else, I enjoyed reading the key fob tutorial. But like most people on this Thread, I don't see a link to any pattern or photos. Since the only leather key fobs I've seen are those 'one-sided' ones at Tandy, I can only see the key fob of the tutorial in my imagination. Perhaps the links got lost when this tutorial got pinned? Please help. I'm writing you because I can see the long string of requests for the pattern or photos, and yet, no answer. - TexasLady

Thanks for the heads up, Texas Lady. The member that started this thread removed the pictures, so there is no way to recover them. I am going to "un-pin" this since there are no pictures available.

  5. Thanks so much for all the nice comments, everyone! There are things I want to change for next time around, but I wasn't sure how everything was going to work.

Rhide- I started with a design I found in a Dover book called "Florid Victorian Ornament". It wouldn't fit the space, so I took one section out of it and tried to use that and that didn't work either. So a long story short and about 2 erasers later I came up with the repeating pattern with the only real remaining part from the origianl being the leafy-looking centers.

Bobby- I liked being one of the boys for a while! ;) I have to tell you, you almost made me not ship. I was packing up and stopped in here for a visit and saw yours. It was hard taping up my box after that.

David- I had a clear plastic tablet holder that I took the clip off of to use for the tablet holder in the cover. The plastic front and back to that I cut the spine off. And all of the afore mentioned pieces are still on the table that wasn't where I was cementing the cover fronts and liners.... it never pays to glue at 2 am.

    Thanks again, everyone!

    Crystal
