  1. Forgot to say one thing. Make the holes 0,5mm larger on the template, otherwise the hole punch will get stuck. I only use the template for marking the holes.
  2. I made a template for a 20mm watch strap. It's a little work, but just one time I made a pdf with 18,20,21,22,23,24 for you. watch_strap.pdf
  3. Ok, i follow your advice
  4. Do i really need that? The most it will be three layers.
  5. Time for a wallet project, but i can't decide the leather thickness. This prototype is made of 1oz/0,7mm paperboard. I know a lot of people here have experience, so what do you think of 1oz thickness? Any beginners mistake when making wallets?
  6. Really nice Did you use any edge dye on the "yellow wallet" ? (which one?) or is it just burnishing?
  7. I think it's different thickness, because goods japan sells different single chisels, dependent on spi.
  8. What do you think about this set?, looks like Seiwa, but not so expensive. https://www.leathercrafttools.com/shouhin.jsp?id=8278
  9. I don't think i understand what you mean, can you explain it further?
  10. Color: Fiebings pro oil dye Walnut. Thread: Ritza 25, 0,6mm Mid brown. Leather: 1,5mm Lining: Skived leather.
  11. Ok sounds good, because i used tan-kote and some Sedgwick leather care on my watch strap, and was a little worried it won't be enough protection.
  12. Nice work, i really like the color. How do you finish the flesh side, so the dye won't bleed on clothes?
  13. Now it's stitched. (Linen thread.)
  14. Thank you. I made a template of a plastic card (like credit card/member card) then used a knife like this: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImages/400/2b/2b6fcc3a-19ac-4f57-82b9-265677891e21_400.jpg The tongue slot is made with a hole punch and x-acto knife. 15. I did a big mistake, and bought some tools från Tandy. Hole punch set and a set with stitching chisels. (useless tools) Then i bought some tools from Goodsjapan and the quality seems to be really good. But i can't find round hole punches there.
  16. Leather: 1,5-1,6(4oz) Thread: 0,6mm
  17. I have seen some hand stitched watch straps that have straight stitching. How do i achieve that? with a lacing chisel instead of the diamond shaped? or with another stitching method?
  18. Hello. I just bought a diamond chisel set from Tandy, but the holes are elephant size. How are they supposed to be used? I compared them and took some pictures. My other chisels make too small holes. (have to use plier or awl to widen the holes) Thread: 0,6mm Ritza 25. 19. Tried som saddle stitching, not so easy without anything to clamp with. I think my next project is building a Stitching Pony.
  20. I update here with pictures when the stitching is ready. When i get my stitching tools i can finish my watch strap too I just buffed the luggage tag with Sedgewick leather care, i used a white cloth and the cloth got a little colored, normal? What i have done with the leather (did it before i started with the cutting.) 1. Dyed (Fiebings pro oil) 2. Carnauba creme. Thanks everyone for the nice words.
  21. Yes. No:11 (Swann-morton) actually, I wanted to have rounded "inner corners" but i have bought a cheap hole punch set, so i can modify the tools.
  22. No stitching yet, because i haven't got my stitching chisels. Maybe it would look better if i had dyed the flesh side too.
  23. Hello, this will be my first post here, so i start with an apologize for my bad grammatics and spelling (I'm from from Sweden so this is not my first language) I'm soon going to start my first leather project, which will be a watch strap in rubber (No of course in leather ) I have a question regarding the finishing of the saddle stitch. In tutorials the recommendation is to back stitch two or three stitches, but i have seen some leatherwork with just one back stitch (see the attached file) I use linen thread if that matters. How to finish that stitch in a good way? perhaps someone have a tutorial that shows this? And one last question. What thread and dimension is used in the watch strap that i attached, is it possible to see? Thanks in advance.
