  1. Go for the Sam Browne, they come in a few sizes and add a more rugged/cool look. I am not a fan of those little sigma snaps.
  2. Ennnnnnteresting. I look forward to the next test.
  3. I just made a smaller burnisher for my Dremel! I got a 1/2"long, 3/8 wide nylon spacer for 25 cents. I hammered a cutting blade mandrel into the hole then used a needle file to shape the groove. Sorry for the cell phone quality. It is great for getting into tight spaces! And I can still use it as a mandrel!

  5. I use one of the 1/4" thick felt polishers that I shaped with a 1/4" sanding drum. I put the polisher in the dremel and used it like a lathe while I held the sanding drum in-between my thumb & index finger to sand out the groove. Works great!
  6. I was wondering how many of you have fabricated new or altered existing tools to fit your needs. I have made a few jigs but I am always looking for inspiration as I am sure we all are. I will post some pics of my stuff when I find my camera.
  7. Wow! Those look great! You have at least 1 guaranteed customer right here!
  8. I had a Jack Russel Terror when I was young so I can see that perfectly!
  9. I read on this forum that someone had a tip for making leather dust by putting skiveing scraps in a coffee grinder. Well, I have started using a dremmel with a sanding drum to skive some peaces and I am making a lot of leather dust. I was wondering what I could be doing with this stuff.
  10. I am curious about this too. Dose leather have a grain like wood?
  11. Well, I am no professional but I use a good old regular X-acto knife for cutting out curved pieces. I make slow shallow cuts until I have the piece cut out, then hit the edge with some 220 grit sandpaper if it needs it.
  12. I have an airbrush (actually my ex wife now has an airbrush) and let me give everyone a bit of advice. Don't buy one of those little airbrush compressors, they don't have a tank so they need to pump continuously and they are very loud for their size. Instead, save some money by going down to the hardware store and buying one with a tank. I got a small one for around $30. make sure it has a pressure regulator, otherwise you will need to buy one so you don't blow 100 psi through the airbrush. The great thing about the tank is that if you have pressure left over from the last time you used it you may not even need to plug it in to use it for small stuff.
  13. You can cut out guitar picks from them too
  14. I am looking for a list of proper applications for the different types of dyes. What are the pros and cons of Sprit, Oil, and Water soluble dyes?
  15. I have just accidentally found that if you thin spirit dye with denatured alcohol it will be VERY rigid when it dries. I used 2 parts dye with 1 part Denatured alcohol.
