  1. that's true I never ordered from  shamrockarts . the other place SLS are not to be trusted . now I'm gun shy from ever ordering a set of lasts in my size. every place I talked with either order a full run or they don't have what I want. and it was a stock item if I can or could believe them. you know anyone looking for a 111w155 w/table @ clutch motor might deliver in the Midwest for a fee but like a friend says its not eating anything. as for lasts and there type.

    I wear size 11 d width

want a round toe and 3/8 or 1/2  heel  like a roper heel

would like it hinged and with a heel plate

I think a moccasin last I what I asked for could of been the fisherman last I waited 2 months before I got most of my money back. WTF

    never again

  2. this just a thought. with s/s you can torch it and it will change color blue if you know what your doing . and you might know some one who does electro platting I think the stain glass workers have stuff that applied to brass turns it black. not sure how permeate  it is.

The panel doesn't appear to be stitched to the top. Not sure how they stay together, maybe a magnet in the pieces.

what I can tell. the top pc put together and then the round side is made. then the two are 45 degree stitched  only about 1/2 way around

  4. when I built braces for the leg . when I made the leather cuffs. I would cut  a leather strap that was the size I needed to go around the persons leg + considered padding if needed. in other words circumference + over lap + 1/2  to 3/4

then take a pc of lining leather and tack it to the table after I stretch it out.  glue both pc's   when you cut away the lining the whole thing will coil

  5. if all you want to do is glue the body so it has the curve to it. the inside leather can be stretched but only if you can get a descent  stretch out of it meaning 1/2 inch at least then just glue the 2 pc together. this is done laid out flat  . or you can drape the inside leather over the beer can and roll the 2 glued pc together   the inside leather  is smaller than the outside  don't know if you can under stand  what I just said or not its no big deal

yes I've since spoke with them.  I've had a terrible experience  with some else and after near 3 weeks I'm getting a message saying they might refund my money. they are reluctant on getting back with me so I'm still out the 75 plus the money exchange. and still don't know wtf . from my experience will never order from SLS  ever again  and just hope I get my money back. I'm starting to get really pissed  and all  I ever wanted was to try my hand on making me a set of shoes

  7. when I'm trying to find it I  can't. I've  seen these over the years but when I want to find one I can't. they usually  were on the end of a web and maybe leather 1" strap . they were all metal with a hole in the middle and a spring catch the other was a  pin with a slight ball on the end. that was pushed on over the catch. problem is I don't know what the are called ,so I'm not sure how to look them up. I know I've seen them used on hard case music  cases . my luck is the army quit using these after the war. hold it we're always at war  BIG QUESTION do they make these any more. or is it a lost cause

That's a very personal decision. I have a whole bunch for different applications. The ones with curved replaceable blades are nice. The Blanchard ones are good (I think they're called "l'indispensable" or something like that). Head knives are good if you to push instead of pull your cuts. It's up to you. Just get one with good steel and keep it well sharpened.

To be honest, go get yourself a belt sander that you can invert and mount on your bench along with a decent shop vac. I use that a lot more when making sandals than I do any clicking knife.

Here are some that I've made.

if one were wanting to try their hand at trying this what would he or she need to get started other than hand tools. always wanted to try my hand at this. just not sure how to construct the uppers. so they fit the way they should . any pointers to help an old man on how it is done.

I think  your mistaken I've been in the orthopedic business  for 35 + years that  had a custom boot maker in the shop. they make a cork and rubber mix that you heat and you can mold it just about any where you want you never waist any . just keep it an it sticks to its self.  its called thermo cork missed you pnone number call back'

  10. if your talking about granular type cork as in powdered. I'd look to where latex is sold they use to use it in making arch supports only company that use to sell it 15-20 years ago was sold off to several different places and some of those were sold. knit-rite in KC you can get both old rubberized cork that comes in 1/4 " or sheeting as thin as 1/8 the rubber type add some masters to the top surface  heat it in a toaster  oven keep your eye one it about 250-275  it will puff up and git gets like a rag  and stick it in where you want it and let it cool check with fillauer   tenn  i'll see what I can find not sure where  ,,, I'd bet it still out there now the mask makers are using latex
