  1. I need to find a supplier for tounges simaler to the type found in cinch rings, only they need to be 4" long. Thanks
  2. Some of my first attempts at building Jockey saddles!
  3. I have a real nice Randall 18" strap cutter with lots of extra blades and spacers. Set up on 220 3-phase. 950.00obo. Fortuna 12" band splitter needs new blade. also set up on 220,3-phase. Both could be run on phase converter or swaped out for 110. E-mail for pics. 1250.00/2000.00 for both 303-659-7244 Denver. If you will be in Denver for WESA Contact me to see machines. Thanks
  4. Is it a 29-4? If it is and the shuttle end is wore out, not much. If it sews about 250.00.
  5. As long as you have a serrated feed dog you are probobly going to have this problem! I have ground and polished them down to lessen this problem. Also if you can adjust the dog to come up the least amount you can get by with will also help some. If your machine has needle feed you can reduce top pressure on your presser foot, but if you do a lot of heavey sewing this is generally not a god idea, as the needle will lift your work from the plate. Good Luck1
  6. I see a lot of half leathers because I do a lot of McCall saddle work. Most of thiers are on thier Lady and lite trail models to eliminate weight. All thier performance saddles have them also. 3" on the mens saddles and 2.5 on the lites. I like the half leather idea for close contact and feel, but still prefer 3". I have seen some 2" halfs that are kind of scarey! I use 2 rivets vetical and the stitch pattern will vary. Proper care and inspection of your saddle goes a long way when it comes to half leathers!
  7. Try posting what you want on the Proleptic message board! I always get good response. www.proleptic.net
  8. Also make sure that everything is threaded correct! That should always be second to check after the needle.
  9. Go back and look through your posts! All I have read is problems with them! This is why I posted. As I stated This is my opionion! I have worked all day in my shop until now! I do it for a living! I do repairs and warrenty work for some of the biggest and well known stores in the western states, and no I do not work for a competator! Maybe some of you get by fine with the big Chinese Machines! I don't. What a bunch of haters! I posted this as an opionion! I do stand behind my opinions! I have forgot more about Big machines than most will ever know! Ban me, Take off my post! I really do not care! I make a living with Leather and Machines Ask Connie Nagel, ask Vernon Weaver, ask the Jean Blancs, Ask Bob Booth! Hell ask jack Butcher! I am sure they all have opionions. If this is that clicky of a site. I am sorry I ever got involved with it! I have alot of old(50s&60s) patters That I was willing to share as well as Original H.H. Heiser patterns that came from Fred Carlson! Any of you out there that know anything about H.H.H. Know he was one of the last saddle makers on the payrole in Denver before they shut down! Fotget that! I read things like The Landis 3 is a copy of the Campbell! Yeah right! The randell is the same machine except for a few screws! Not the #3! Maybe you guys can go back to your leather guilds and discuss this post. I really don't care. Keep on thinking what you want. I was reffered here by on of the top young saddle makers in the country, but boy was he wrong! I will close now as I have better things to with my time, Saddle Work. Thanks for letting me waste you space! Tom D. Walahoski
  10. I see alot of people out there having trouble with the Big Artisans! I have been to to many shows where the people selling them ( won't metion any names) can't even get them to sew! I have sewn an all the big stitchers, Hook and awl and Single needle. My opinion, for what it is worth, is buy an Adler 205! New or used. A little more money, but you get what you pay for. I have ran or worked in shops for 30 years and thats what I own! Thanks
