  1. I'm allergic to leather dye. So, that might be part of the problem too, unless you're not dying the leather.
  2. Okay, so I'm not really sure about the order of operations. After I tool my leather, should I dye it before I punch the holes for stitching or punch the holes before I dye?
  3. Looks good. Celtic will be the majority of my tooling, so now I have something to compare my quality with.
  4. Great list of links here. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Thanks. Deer Park's quite a ways from me, but I did find the Leather Factory in Missouri City close to wear I work. Thanks for the welcome.
  6. That is completely awesome. Well done. Cool idea for the matching wallet.
  7. Gary, posting the template would be a great help. And thanks for the tip on bending the wire, that would probably be better than trying to find a supplier. And definitely post any future pics that you have. Thanks for your help.
  8. Thanks. I know about two of the locations from their website: the one on 1960 and the one in Missouri City. Where's the third?
  9. That's a great looking rob-roy style of sporran. What weight and type of leather did you use for it? Thanks for posting the pattern.
  10. Unfortunately, those links aren't going to help the OP find what he's looking for, unless maybe contacting them will reveal something I couldn't find. While they are all retailers of kilt belt buckles, none of them come with the wire for hooking onto the buckle. The kilt belts come with that already attached and so it doesn't come with the buckles. I, too, would be interested in knowing where to get those as I'd like to get into kilt belt making myself. Gary, I appreciate the links, but I'd be very interested in seeing the kilt belts and sporrans you made. That's what I'm looking to make myself.
  11. The name's Ricky and I just wanted to drop in and say hi. I'm a complete newb at leather working and have no idea where to start, but I know I want to learn. I'll be perusing around the site quite a bit, but any pointers on where to go to learn all the terminology would be helpful. I've been to my local Tandy and got their basic book, but it's not much help. And it's a little bit of a drive to keep going back to for simple questions. Looking forward to learning here.
