Need help with my guitar straps come out too dark. I would love to learn how to sunburst dyes.

What color dies should I buy.....and what brand. Also what finishes...???? How to apply dye for sunburst. Effects!

All my pieces turn out to dark after using antique gel, after I put another alcohol based color on top, sometimes the highlights go away. Why? I tried with a highlighter dye but same thing happens. I am working on a guitar strap and I want the letters to show! Any advice?

Thank You! My local Tandy Leather supplier said they did not carry them. I need the 2 inches set! I don't think Springfield carries it either... Yes you guys are right. I went back to Tandy and bought a book they have of alphabets that's have some 1 and a 1/2 alphabets! I am going to carve them.
