Matching Holster & Belt
rusticbob replied to Rohn's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Wow, they both look great! What color is the dye or stain? -
New Wallet
rusticbob replied to rusticbob's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I realize thefinish looks a little reddish, but that is Fiebing's Tan dye. Its made of STD veg tan from Tandy. If I remember correctly , its 2-3 oz. Its laced with artificial sinew, first time I tried using that particular thread. -
Just finished a wallet for my brother. Maybe this will make up for all the birthday presents I never gave to him.

Going turkey hunting this weekend and wanted to present my Dad with a custom made, box call carrier. Asked here, looked everywhere, and decided to wing it! Here are a few pictures. I have only been leather working for about 4 most, and I love it. I learn from every project, and gain confidence as I go along.

Looking for a pattern or suggestions for a turkey box call for my dad. He is 80, and we are going turkey hunting next weekend. He has a old PS Olt box call, and I would like to make him a nice leather belt carrier. Any suggestions? I looked thru Al Stolman's leather case series, and the closest I can find is for a flashlite holder in book 1.

I'm new to leather working, about four months. It has been incredible finding this website, the knowledge and helpfulness of subscribers is priceless. I want to make a wallet for my younger brother for his birthday. He uses a ti-fold, full size now, lots of cards slots, (think George Castanza from Seinfeld)! I am not sure which thickness leather, and does anyone have a template they would be willing to share? Thanks in advance.

Wow, that looks spectacular. I would love to make one for my daughter, a horse lover, if you could share the pattern. -
Cell Phone Cases
rusticbob replied to rusticbob's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I don't know why the pictures didn't post, I'll try again! -
Finished a few more cell phone cases for my brother and sister in law. If someone has a standard phone, I phone, Samsung, Blackberry, I have been able to get dimensions off the internet. Then I make a hardwood template, a little oversize, to allow for shrinkage. Track Phone and flip phones are a crap shoot, although I made one for my wife's flip phone, and see seems happy.

Am I the only one who has no idea what "machine", you are talking about? -
Finished Another Archery Arm Guard
rusticbob replied to dhaverstick's topic in Archery Quivers and Bow Cases
Great looking work. I was wondering if you had made any bow quivers? I shoot a Longbow, and want to make one for myself? Any ideas? -
Be Kind, But Honest.

Great, thanks a lot. Sanding the edges?, I haven't tried that yet, I just wet than and slick them. Do you sand by hand? Approx what grit? Rusticbob -
I'm going to try and attach some pictures of my first products. I have been leather working since Jan 1st, and love the heck out of it. Some good, some bad, but I'm learning lots by trial and error. Glad I found this website, its been a great help.

Thank you both for the information, I think I'll pass on these machines. Can anyone suggest a good starter machine for leather pillows, handbags, pouches, etc. I will continue to handstitch the really heavy leathers. I finally built a stitching pony this past weekend, and that has made stitching a whole lot easier. Thanks again.
