  1. Could have been added later as it is not attached. I would hang that strap in the hay baler if I wore it long.
  2. Thanks. It was in “Cowboy Gear” by David. R. Stoecklein. My reenactor buddy loaned me some coffee table books from his collection for holster ideas. At least some of the stuff in the book looks authentic. This holster was marked “Moran Brothers. “ I usually just punch 2 holes in front of rear sight and put a thong loop.
  3. I hope this picture posts. Saw a western holster in a cowboy gear historical book. It has a thong on the hammer which threads down through the double loops, hangs down 8 or 10 inches with a metal washer at the end. Looks like holster would fall out before it catches.
  4. Don’t think you can make it lighter and not soften the blow.
  5. Drill the head full of holes.
  6. Strange stuff but effective.Made about 2 cups with white vinegar and washed steel wool. Let it work about 2 days. Tried to keep the wool submerged but it kept bubbling up. Took the wool out and it was clear. Started to apply it the next day and full of chunks of rust. Strained these out with blue shop towels. Dye went on great and looks perfect after neats foot oil. Looked in the jar today and it was full of rust again. Strained it again and there is not much left. Guess I just need to make a batch with every holster. Man is it black.
  7. Got some vinegroon brewing. Never used it before. I usually use Neatsfoot oil. Vinegroon, then neatsfoot, or give versa?
  8. Josh, I looked at some of your holsters on the single action forum. The birder stamps make me wish I could master serpentine. My gosh.
  9. Very nice. Thanks.
  10. I really just wondered how they went together. Looking at them from the outside I could not see how it could work or help much. Apparently they don’t. I’ll put extra effort into my wet forming.
  11. Where did you get a larger pulley for it? I have a 225 with a clutch motor that is a bit fast.
  12. So is it just a screw? No spring, just washers? I am my only customer.
  13. Thanks. So far I am only making holsters for myself. And I rarely run or tumble any more when packing.
  14. I use fired rifle brass for punches. When they get dull or bent I toss them and get another. .223 best for Chicago screws.
  15. Wondering where to order holster retention screws. Also, how do they work? A little spring involved?
  16. Thank you.
  17. Thanks. I found a cheapo version of the die on Amazon.
  18. 2 questions please. I have some eco flo all in one that is dried up close to shoe polish paste. Can you dilute and re constitute it? Is it water based? Also, I ordered some boot lace hooks to make an ankle holster. Looking at these I can’t see how to set them. Special tool?
  19. Thanks for looking. I can make my own patterns usually, I just look at a lot of projects for design and stamping ideas.
  20. This has several links.
  21. Yes. I am looking at every holster post ever made here. The block shows but no pic. Some have an imp icon saying picture gone. Some links won’t work.
  22. Many of the posts have a square with a box saying xxxx.pic and the picture won’t show. Logged in or not. Using Safari. Viewing on IPad. How can I see them? Thanks.
