Good job, like the style better than steam punk.

Thank you, I customize knives and new scales on this one to make it mine. They are pretty good knives, glad to see they are making the Generations series back in the USA, want one soon. Thank you, thinking of European Bog wood. Put a set on a couple Bucks that look nice. Will add tp the post when done. Thank you, they are fun to make. Thank you, work gets in the way of fun at times. On the farm never know what today brings, love it getting to be around God's creation all day. Thank you, had the itch to do some, would love to make some stamps just finding the time. Hopefully soon will bring down my tools. Elk is beautiful have it on a custom Buck. Thinking about Bogwood, or deer antler have some of both save a little money. Thank you, will do.

Finished a Schrade Sharpfinger sheath. Changed the design a little from the first, pretty happy with the edge work and burnish. The handles look bad cause a custom set is going on them and in the process of removing the old.

My custom Buck 110 now has a home. The leather had some blemishes which is ok because it is going to receive more marks as I wear it. I am having fun playing with the combination of stamps, quick and looks good.

Thank you. This is how I am working now, the area has to cover air rifle stuff, and knife work. One tool I purchased for the class at Tandy was a maul, just so used to it. The old setup. Tooling Holster.mp4

It is a rainy day and the ground is to wet to work. So today is an off day, working on a sheath for a Schrade Old Timer skinning knife. This pattern was made using 8 stamps in combination, This has helped me grow by forcing me to not just grab tools but to think how can I make due with what is available.

Thank you, It is easy to fall in the trap of watching experienced people working and most of the time they have acquired good tools over time. I would think if I use a tool like theirs then my work would improve. One old timer would tell me to get tools when needed (detail what they did current ones wouldn't). Instead pound more leather, you can watch videos all day and know the steps and process, but until you pound leather it is just head knowledge and not skill! Thank you for the kind words.

Moved back to the family farm last year and started farming it. The farm has been in the family over 100 years. The last it was farmed was over 40 years ago. Lots of work and little time for leather. Plus my tools are 12 hours away in storage. A distant cousin who has been helping get things together mentioned some leather items he wanted, purchased some bellies on sale months ago in hopes of doing some. As a thank you decided to take some time and do some leatherwork. Only problem no tools, purchased a cheap set of stamps 15 dollars for 10 or so from amazon, and a starter kit for around 20 dollars, box cutter I had. It was a challenge to see what could be done, started out originally 6 years ago with a deluxe starter set from them with bad results. Making all of these had to be creative due to not having any snaps or accessories, or any type of finishing other than my cooking olive oil. The leather was Wickett and Craig 6 or 7 dollar belly overstock. Didn't have high expectations, but was pleased with the results. I am a tool snob, goes back to mechanic days. Dip can holder, Cell phone belt case, Buck 112 case, Schrade Walden knife sheath, Cell Case. All these from 1 belly with a couple feet left.

Thank you, you haven't seen my mistakes.

Thank you for the kind words Couldn't get them to stay still long enough to fit em. Thank you

Thank you Appreciate it, Agreed, I am among the worst. If I only had this tool mine would look like theirs. Pound more leather. Thank you

Finished the tooling for the class next Saturday at the Birmingham AL Tandy. Fun project using Tandy's basic kit along with 3 figure bevellers, Triangle beveller, modelling spoon, and hair blade. No fancy expensive tools. It was a fun challenge to set aside my tools, evens signed my name with a swivel knife as my makers mark wasn't available. Haven't tooled for over 6 months because we moved back home to my wife family property. Starting the farm back up has been taking most of my time, along with tending animals. We had our first calf born on the farm Thanksgiving day. Still have to go back to North Carolina to get my tools. This was done at the store.

Thank you, phones are powerful now. Thank you, I reuse the bottoms/soles after cutting of the stock sides.

Your welcome Not sure, I tried vellum and had to change the settings to photo for it not to smear. I print on plain white paper and use clear packaging tape on the back and it works great. Cheaper too.

Thought it would be nice to share how I create tooling patterns from images. May do some more with the difficulty going up. This is how the pattern was made for my pistol case.

Thank you, the hummingbird is from an image brought into Photoshop sized, cleaned up. and fit on a scan of the part. I am thinking of doing a video of the work flow as it opens up many possibilities. Thank you, she is a sweet person and I hope so. Thank you, now to finish well.

Working on a Pair of Berkenstocks for a friend who likes hummingbirds. She is the wife of our retired Pastor who still checks in. .

Sweet job, it is a complete package.

Thank you, The zipper is a #3 five yard bulk roll from Amazon. With the zipper you get 10 zipper pulls, they both work well with one being slightly smoother. Possibly the one that is in the reverse direction. It posed no problem. I am sorry, not familiar with the uni-directional YKK.

Thank you Thank you Yes Sir. After seeing it a while the floppy handles started bothering me. Added the handle wrap out of remnants also.

I wanted to try a few different things, gusset, handle, and Breaking Out Eagle. These are new to me. I am learning everyday from lots of people, some may not be my taste yet a technique they use may be better. Thank you for the compliment. The eagle is called Breaking Out Eagle by Robert Barr. It is free on Elk Tracks web site. Thank you, remnants for me are great when trying new things. They are not something to be used for a customer. The sheepskin is just glued in along with the inside flap covering the zipper ends. Thank you Thank you it was fun.

True, this gives it a different look though I have done both ways. Yeh I dropped the ball on not burnishing the edge by the zipper.
