Hi Bob , that sounds like a good option . But not to sound like a long winded knucklehead, I need some instruction on going about changing needle bar and setting up to sew or “Darn” with smaller needle bar , I noticed mine has two lines on needle bar , I’m guessing for setting bar height . Maybe I can get more replies on a few more questions before ordering the needle bar and clamp from ya . Do all machines needle bar height set up the same ? I recall ”DODINRENO “ explaining this to someone before ,maybe I should send message to him and “Constabulary “ who has similar machines to get more insight. I’m still trying to learn how to use website and post pics , gets kinda confusing for this 60yr old ..lol Thanks Bob

Or are you saying 2 different needle classes?I’ll google that .Thanks Also I looked in your profile about your machines,,they take class 214 needles u say .gosh wish I could post pictures ! I’ll keep trying to resize also found needle info on “ The Thread exchange” trying to decifer compared sizes

Hello everyone ! Happy Holidays! Well I have another question for y’all. I’ve had this 133k18 machine for awhile , never used it until last week .l put a new belt on it and got it running, went and removed needle to micrometer to find some smaller needles and put back in and must not have tightened needle screw enough and it slipped out some and bent after using it for 5 minutes . And I only had one needle for machine. Having a hard time finding this needle , it’s a 216x7 class . It’s a huge needle maybe size 26 .. I would like to find smaller needles maybe 18-22 in size . Anyone use this machine ?. I wonder if it’s possible to change needle bar to a 135x17 like my other walking feet machines ? I’ll switch tinkering to another newly acquired machine 111w155, while I wait to hear from you guys. This sewing machine stuff is addictive! Thank you to all in advance also also will try to post pictures in a bit from my iPhone ,was challenging last time I tried .

Speed Reducer Mount made from Clutch Motor Mount
Metalhorseman replied to Constabulary's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Great idea ! Got to go look in my yard ! -
Hi kgg On my Seiko STH-8BLD-3,, stock hand wheel ,60mm pulley on Fesm 550,3450rpm servo. Dial for rpm set at 650 ,it has one more click to 350 , but motor doesn't work in that position. Any suggestions on how to make that work at lowest rpm? I ordered a 45mm pulley should be here next week. Did a dog collar, 3 layers of polyester webbing and noticed machine kinda struggling to get up and go ,that's when I started reading about heavier handwheel and larger pulley on the handwheel with smallest 45mm servo pulley. Looked into speed reducer box but won't fit under table because of T-table cross brace is 6 3/4" below motor. Also liked box style for easy tilting back Head. But not in budget at the moment. I just bought a Juki LU-562 with reverse and bought a servo, I think that has a 45mm pulley on motor and to keep at girlfriends house for awhile to do some awning projects. Thought the older handwheel trick with the built in larger diameter pulley would be a less expensive way of going now, found on web for $45 plus price of belt. I am very mechanical inclined and would like to try this on the Juki. Also have talked to other member here about installing 6" sheave/Pulley on head to slow it down a bit. I think that would be slow enough. Someone mentioned more weight on upper pulley for better punching power thru thicker material also . Please read what Gregg from Keystone was talking about . Sad he passed away .I had bought my Seiko from him.

Heavier and larger pulley on this Handwheel ! I found a cross reference number for that pulley .# 241688 came up and maybe was on a Singer 51w52, 53,55,56,57 and a 57w model .. still need to do more research on how it bolts on or slides right on with set screws. Any info on subject would b e appreciated. Thank You

Hi ! WOW !!!! Do you know or can you run a 3L belt with that particular handwheel ? If so would you know the part number and Or do you know of a heavier and larger handwheel that will work on your Seiko , But without treadle. I wanna do something like that with a larger with a larger wheel and heavier too...And use 3L belt and a servo motor . Any info would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU

Measurements of speed reducer box needed
Metalhorseman replied to Metalhorseman's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
I have my new Seiko machine in living room , small house . But Juki Lu562 is out back with K-legs, I wanna put casters on that one and also put reducer on . I put servo on juki , works a lot slower , tamed that beast , great for sewing up Awnings! Wizcrafts, I found the link that the Late Gregg had posted about swapping heavier handwheel on Juki to help bunch . I have to revive that post if I can figure how too . Found supplier in NJ who has them ,, I’m going to order one for Juki and see if it fits on Seiko before I just try changing to bigger pulley up top and even smaller at motor 45mm on Juki ,, Seiko has a 60mm on the FESM550 wanna go 40mm. If they make that small… Thanks guys for pictures -

Yea , I think if I didn’t remove k-legs I would have enough space . I need to go back to class on reducing size of pics ..I really like the T-legs with the casters I put on it ! Might have to mount reducer on top .. Another project . -
Hello everyone, Thinking of putting a boxed speed reducer on my machine .Can anyone give me a measurement of their box unit, width x height x depth that bolts under table from a point of looking at machine from the front? Pics I’ve seen motor bolts directly underneath box. I only have 6 7/8” till motor will hit cross bar on my T style legs..I believe I’ve already raised my adjusters up as far has they go without having to do more modifications. Thanks Wayne

Hey Cowboy Bob ,, can you tell us if it’s true that smaller pulley makes turning hand wheel harder to turn . I have a 2 1/2 diameter maybe it’s a 60 mm lower pulley and it works sweet , controllable but it’s harder to turn by hand,Then another machine that has a bigger lower pulley, or is it my imagination?

How to keep leather/Patterns flat while cutting.
Metalhorseman replied to Littlef's topic in How Do I Do That?
Just sew up some small sandbags 4x4 or whatever size you need … -
I do have a family fesm550 on my Seiko with a 2.5 inch pulley ,set at 600rpm , very controllable .The cylinder arm singer is much two fast 3200 clutch motor .So your right angle gear reducer came with a shaft for drive belt pulley ?And u said other side bolted right up to your motor huh. Haven't seen one yet like that. Went on Wittenstein website to get familiar . Can I get a few more different pic angles of your motor set up? Really need to build some space saver table. Another Gentleman on Craigslist just gifted me a working Singer 133k18 darner machine with table and 3hp motor . It's crazy powerful ! Got 5 machines in the Hoard.LOL Garage is packed . 2 machines in living room !

Hi Don , would that motor be good on my cylinder arm ? if I can ever get it working , keep taking it apart and adjusting this and that. Im learning .
-
Don ! I just found this ... awesome table idea! I need to make one For my cylinder arm I'm tinkering with .What is the right angle motor I'm seeing ? Need more Info on that ! That is Sweet . Wayne

Help with old Singer cylinder arm machine
Metalhorseman replied to Metalhorseman's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Hey Don , ya I put new #20 needle in ,when I loosened up screws to slide assembly a tad away from needle. I was following the manual that said to remove to arm that holds the one side of hook assembly that just touches the most northern side of assembly and it kinda spun around more then I was hoping. Now it's all loose and not engaging with other gear.figured I can slide gear back where it was. I'll try again after work tomorrow and see if i can post another pic or two .Machine does rotate alot smoother now that needle isnt touching anything which is a good sign I think .lol Any idea where I would find a list of of what needle sizes I could run in this machine ? Missing a few throat place screws ,those little buggers can't be found at ace hardware ! -
Help with old Singer cylinder arm machine
Metalhorseman replied to Metalhorseman's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Thank You Tejas ! Have some more questions figured out how to move hook assembly horizontal or North as some say .. now that I have it all out of wack ,lol. From my understanding you have to start by getting straight stitch dead on , and can not get it still off an 1/8”. Took apart bight adjustment knob and found at the end of the pin is a worn spot /Divet in the metal.. could this be why I can’t dial in straight stitch ? Divet is not as much needle travels in the west to east movement. Was reading for hours and one guy gave this lady a procedure to adjust machine in a certain order .. wish I would have mark it some how to read again , think I read 20-30 pages yesterday . hey Tejas think u can work magic again on my pic ? Also is there a certain correct distance gears need to mesh on the hook assembly shaft when I get back to adjusting needle bar height and hook to eye distance? Thanks Wayne, back to reading Sorry for double post,, I did the email to myself way !!!!
