  1. Sort it took so long. I'm not very good with computers I still can't figure out how to put it in a pdf and make it work. I scanned a copy of the traced pattern and I printed it out it comes out a bit over sized by about a 1/8th of a inch. But it will definitely get you in the ballpark. Oh and I just double checked and I used 1 and 1/8th inch magnets but 1 and 1/4 inch magnets would probably work great on the slightly oversized printed pattern.
  2. I tried doing it with my phone but it won't size right. I'll scan it at work tomorrow and have it available in a pdf tomorrow night.
  3. Go for it. I bought the magnets from Amazon 1.25" flat magnets. When I get home I'll post it up.
  4. Thank you!.Same here, really it's a money clip but a bit bigger, they are are sold as bookmarks. Now that I have a pattern made i figure I'll order a few more magnets and and make some more.
  5. I had someone ask me to make a magnetic bookmark for his daughter for Christmas. I had never heard of these but looked them up and gave it a go. It was a fun quick project a little tooling and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. What do you think?
  6. Well to be fair, I screwed up my first 2 attempts on this belt. The first one I didn't quite understand how to measure it properly and cut it to short. Not a total loss because its still a clean blank for a youth belt. The second attempt a screwed up the basket stamp right at the end and had to scrape it. Thanks Do it! This was the most rewarding project I've done so far. Thanks, but I assure you, they are there lol. Thanks Thank you both!
  7. Your right. I will definitely be using Chicago screws from now on.
  8. Thanks! Thanks! I did ask him that. He said it was a extension strap for some harness his wife had in the tack room. It was never intended to be a belt. Thank you Thanks you all, I gave it to him tonight he was very happy.
  9. So over dinner this last weekend my BIL mentioned he needed a new belt. I told him I would make him one. He told me to make him one like his current belt but but a bit wider. I've never made a belt so I figured I'll make him something nice. Anyway this is what I made. The last photo is a picture of his belt he gave me for measurement next to his new belt. I learned alot on this build, the most important being make sure your buckle is on properly before setting the rivets lol. My fingers are sore from hand stitching but it was worth it. I know it has flaws but I'm very proud of this belt.
  10. Looks good, you did a great job.
  11. Nice work! I can't wait to see the finished product.
  12. Thanks. This is my second attempt at color.i bought the angelus leather pants and was disappointed by the preference. On this project I used acrylic paint bought at hobby lobby my wife uses to paint t shirts. And it covered way better. Time will tell how it wears but I probably won't be spending the money on lether paint. Its also half the price.
  13. I used this ruler I got from tandy. Makers leather supply makes them. It has 1/8" lines on one end that make laying out patterns like that super quick. Thanks for all the kind words guys!
  14. I need a new wallet. My wife suggested I put Mr. Toad on it so I gave it a go. I screwed up a few spots but overall I'm happy. I'l hopefully finish it up tomorrow night.
  15. Just finished up the last one. I had intended to make my wifes strap purple but a mishap whith the dye left me no option other than black lol.
  16. Thanks for all the kind words. I finished another one tonight in black. I'm going to make a brown one then my wife wants hers purple.
  17. I got them from Weaver. I ordered them about a month ago and they had plenty of different sizes. I went back to order some more a few days ago and they only had a few sizes left. If I decide to make some next year I'll order them in the summer.
  18. I decided I'd try painting on a scrap piece before I did anything to my big strap. After I toold it I decided to make a smaller strap out of it. I wish I would have positioned the holly leaf's better but l didn't intend to actually make anything. I'll swing by tandy tomorrow to get a buckle for it tomorrow.
  19. Thanks! I thought I uploaded the picture after I dyed it there is a mess lol apparently it's to big to post.
  20. Excellent. I'm really excited to see how it turns out. I'm definitely going to be making one.
  21. I decided to make some sleigh bell straps for the family for Christmas. This is a work in progress. I have made the pattern and ordered the bells from weaver 2.5" ,2" and 1.5". I'm using a 3" brass ring so they can hang them from a door knob. It's a work in progress I'll update as I go. So far I've made the patter, punched the strap and did some tooling to the first one. Excuse the mess on the bench. Lol
  22. Dang that's a good idea. I have about 20 pipes and keep them in a Tupperware container I'm definitely going to bo making one of these. It looks great btw.
  23. I got a medium size stingray today from a friend. I cut a small section off the end and man is it tough. How do you finish the edges on them? This is totally out of my wheelhouse. Please post any projects you have done with stingray I need some ideas lol.
