I am going to be using my Highlead GC0618-1-SC to sew leather. What type of presser foot should I use? Should I lower the feed dogs?

So I am almost in the market for a good leather sewing machine. I have read hours of posts from all of you wonderful people! I may be more lost now than I was. Any help would be great help. Here is what I need to do and maybe someone could tell me what I need to look for in a machine. 1) Relatively easy to use 2) Sew about 1/2" - 3/4" of leather occasionally but mostly 1/4" 3) Table big enough to unroll chaps or leather vests while sewing 4) Walking foot that actually works like a walking foot. 5) $1500 - $1800 or less preferred budget OK That is it. Is there an option for me????? For now I am struggling with hand stitching EVERYTHING. A 20 minute holster takes 3 1/2 hours to stitch which makes it not cost effective to sell anything. I do it though because I love it. My Jenome costume machine sews through pig and the likes but that's about it. I have been looking really hard at the Cobra Class 17 and the Highlead GC20618. I also really like the Cobra Class 4, I think but it is a little above budget and may put me back a couple of months or more. What do y'all think? Am I on the right track? Thanks everyone in advance for any input you may have!

Local pickup only- I'm in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY. $1500 - Highlead Sewing Machine I'm selling my brand new Highlead industrial sewing machine. Bought in December but I'm moving and need to sell it. It is in excellent, brand new condition. On par with Juki machines but half the price. I've always used Juki machines and I am highly impressed by this brand- much better than Consew. Hello! I am simply wondering if anyone has used or knows anything about the quality of Highlead machines? I have found very little material on these machines. Do they need constant repair? Do they perform as advertised? Are they as cost effective as other similarly priced machines? I am currently doing research for my first walking foot machine and have been looking at the GC0618-1SC. Here is a link to the site I found it on. http://www.sewingmac...gc0618-1-sc.php Any reviews or information would be greatly appreciated!

Hello all, I am new to this forum and new to leather working so thanks in advance. I am interested in getting a Highlead GC0318 (http://www.highlead....ead-GC0318.html ) mainly because it will fit my budget for a non portable walking foot machine. I am interested in working with a wide range of fabrics and materials, but primarily canvas and leather. The first concern that I have noted it that I can not find a binding attachment for this machine specifically. Does anyone have experience with this machine? Is this a clone of any other brand (pfaff, juki, etc.?) Does anyone know of a specific feet, and binding attachments that do work with this model? Alos what are the limitations with working with lighter fabrics like cotton or regular fabrics? Thanks!
