so, I inlaid this rattlesnake skin into this vest about 30 years ago..however it is starting to lift at spots. What can I treat it with?

I want to start a large project, I want to make a vest that emulates a biker vest but has my school logo on the back, I'm a teacher. I also want to have a number of smaller logos on the front of areas that I teach and clubs I am a part of for school. I have made material vests before so I am comfortable with making the pattern and think I can tackle a lot of the simple problems of sticthing etc, but its the actual tooling side I am getting a bit caught up on as I haven't done much of that and am uncertain how to approach it. My mind says to simply tool the back as one piece and do smaller things on the front but that, obviously, means I can't add to it later. I am worried that if I tool a patch and stitch it on, it will be too much weight. I plan on paiting the tooled areas but just want to get my head into how this will work. Anyone tried this sort of thing? Advice? I should add that I've gone full leather for the experience as I've got a heap of cheap stuff that's been sitting rolled up for too long

Hey, I am intending to make some leather garments for myself but whenever I go browsing online for a good leather for this in many colors, I get overwhelmed. Deer tan cowhide or designer or garment leather? What do I want to use? What comes in a wide range of vibrant colors that is good for leather garments?

Im going to use this post to both say hello, new here and ask for some opinions and suggestions on my vest. Years back i did some leather crafting, cutting dying rivets, hand stitching, belts, wrist bands, boot straps nothing at all epic but not 100% green. So i came and joined to get some feedback on a leather biker motorcycle type vintage vest i have, i was in the music entertainment biz and have a show the vest is for, think mad max, zombie apocalyptic type thing, not all nice and new looking. Its well used weatherd which is what i wanted i hit it with lexol, and its nice but it has a couple holes about the size of your finger tip not a problem for the look i wanted but i dont want them to enlarge, They appear like drops of something caustic ate the holes, the edges are tatted raggedy and for lack of a better term seem rotten if i pick at the rought tatters it disintegrates, but the leather around them seem sound, a bit weird to me what ciuld have caused this. My first idea was take thin scrap leather and from the back of the hole one easy to get to the other not so much glue it on with something like shoe goo that wont get hard and will keep the hole from growing if stressed, but will still look like a hole. So if the hole is say dime sized how big should my backing patch be? im assuming you guys have better options and any opinions what caused weird holes like these, Many thanks cheers b

I am in possession of a beautiful tanned moose hide, suede on one side, smooth on the other. I am looking for a talented leather craftsperson to transform it into useable items, such as vests, pouches, gloves, possibles bags, etc. I love to hunt and would love to put this hide to beneficial use. Well here are some pictures of stuff I did 30 years ago. They are pictures of pictures. So because of the glossy finish, with the front view of the black vest there looks like a red streak but isn't. The clock looks tilted and isn't.

Have several African half hides tanned with hair on. Wife wants vest. Have large gator hide how much needed for jacket? Approx size 54/2XL? gouliquerab@sympatico.ca
