yaklady Posted October 28, 2007 Report Posted October 28, 2007 What did Vera make? It must have been beautiful to win in that stiff competition! All bad yaks make their way to the freezer.
Contributing Member ClayB Posted October 29, 2007 Contributing Member Report Posted October 29, 2007 I am not sure if Allen Cope is a member here or not, but he gave me permission to post links to the pictures he took at the show in Fort Worth. There are four different albums with some pretty good pictures in them. Members Rawhide Posted October 29, 2007 Members Report Posted October 29, 2007 Thanks for posting the pictures Johanna and Clay. Does anyone have a picture of the stitching horse that was in the competition room? Thanks, Marlon Marlon
Moderator Johanna Posted October 29, 2007 Author Moderator Report Posted October 29, 2007 That stitching horse caught my eye, too, but it should have been displayed on a table or something. Most people were finding it by tripping over it. There was quite a bit of detail, and it was way too pretty to use for any actual work! Who made it? I never did find out. These are the only pics I have. Contributing Member ClayB Posted November 2, 2007 Contributing Member Report Posted November 2, 2007 I'd like to say CONGRATULATIONS to Vera Goldberg for her Best of Show-Most Unique in the Fort Worth show!!! Considering the competition there, that is quite an honor. Clay ClayB Badlands Leather Art blog Badlands Leather Art Website
Contributing Member Regis Posted November 2, 2007 Contributing Member Report Posted November 2, 2007 I noticed some catagories have a 2nd & 3rd or 1st & 3rd but, "None" in the other places. Is there some kind of benchmark to meet in addition to competition with peers? Examples are B5 and D3. What am I missing/not understanding? Looks like someone could win 2nd but there is no 1st place. Regis God, Family, and Country (although liberals are attempting to destroy these in the USA)
Contributing Member ClayB Posted November 2, 2007 Contributing Member Report Posted November 2, 2007 Regis, If the judges dont feel there is any entry worthy of a ribbon, they don't have to award one. I think the reason given was that if awards had to be given in every catagory, work that wasn't high quality would be awarded by default. Advancement from open to advanced and advanced to masters is based on awards one in the previous catagory. If awards were given just because you were the only entry in that catagory, you could advance even if your work wasn't up to the standard of the others in the catagory. That's how it was explained to me and I agree with it. ClayB Badlands Leather Art blog Badlands Leather Art Website
