CFM chuck123wapati Posted March 14 Author CFM Report Posted March 14 So anyway I haven't spent the winter totally hibernating. I have a couple of old bamboo fly rods I bought off eBay years ago, last fall while in another town i bought another from a thrift store. It turned out the tip was broken but the silver lining was a beautiful red agate stripping guide a vintage sock and the original aluminum case. long story short I built two rods out of the three. I see some leather cases in my future lol. Bravo, Good Sir. thanks, i feel the same as you the one has a date of 3/33 maker unknown on it the other was an old Montague both the wood was in excellent and when refinished they are beautiful. That old workmanship on what was once a lower quality rod is as good as any. I cant wait ti try them out lol the water is still to hard here. New reelseats handles and eyes complety scraped down with ten coats of try oil and japanese silk thread. When you afford cool sometimes you gotta make your own cool. The main reason o got into leather work btw. Members Sheilajeanne Posted May 17 Members Report Posted May 17 I love the pink saucer magnolias! They're my favourite! Our church has a lovely magnolia tree just outside the front door. It was in full bloom last week, so I snapped a picture. There's also a small decorative waterfall beside the angel statue. Quote
CFM chuck123wapati Posted May 17 Author CFM Report Posted May 17 Beautiful pictures!!!! looks like I'll be taking my camera on our daily walk tomorrow. Members Sheilajeanne Posted May 17 Members Report Posted May 17 Everything is starting to bloom here! My white lilac is gorgeous this year, but for some reason the purple ones are lagging behind. Flowering crabs are just about in full blossom, too. The scent when you go outside is amazing! Both the liac and the flowering crab trees are highly perfumed. I'd post photos, but we're having a thunderstorm with heavy rain at the moment. Quote

Members Handstitched Posted May 29 Members Report Posted May 29 G'Day chuck, I'm still here. Haven't been on for quite a while. Lots of stuff happens, you know how it is : make plans, set intentions etc. plans go out the window: try to recommit to original plans, "ditto" Dad is doing ok, touchwood, he goes in to major hospital in Perth to have skin cancers removed next week , but under a local, not general, which is good because of his age . Over night stay. Some friends of mine, one is a nurse, may help with transport getting Dad to and from hospital. Major hospital is a major PITA to get in and out of. Hope you and yours are doing well HS Quote ' I have a very gweat friend in Wome called Biggus Dickus, He has a wife you know, do you know whats she's called? Hopefully, this will be the end of a nightmare for her. I'm doing well, but haven't gotten my inspiration back to get anything done lol. I have truck parts coming today, so that may help also have to change the oil in my car for the trip to see my daughter tomorrow. Hospitals here are not to bad its just 120 miles away lol. Spring has been wet and rather normal. Amazingly, after our last election, the contrails have disappeared in our skies, and the weather is returning to normal. Prayers for your pops!! Take care, my friend!!! Long drives can add stress to even the smaller medical issues. I just got back from driving my sweetheart to a medical check. First, we drove 5.5 hours away. There we placed the camper. Next day, we drove the remaining 11 or 12 hours south to Edmonton, then back a day later. All went well for her, and I got to stop in Tandy, and Buckskin. Honestly that might have stung more than the drive lol Good for you getting your own oil changed. Quote

That's a LOT of things that needed fixing, though I'm sure the appendix was probably just 'preventative medicine' ! Quote

They think this mess started with diverticulitis, then the botched first surgery drained into her abdomen for 5 days, and left the second emergency surgery just cleaning up the mess and saving her life. This time, she was healthy again, and the doctors could fix all the problems caused by the first surgery; the appendix was partially obstructing their progress somehow and was also removed. Members Sheilajeanne Posted June 9 Members Report Posted June 9 Yikes! Wishing here a smooth recovery this time around! I used to visit patients in their homes for a living when I was nursing. We didn't get to see the patients who had uneventful recoveries from surgery, of course, so I know what can go wrong! I also have diverticulitis. Haven't had an attack in 6 years. I'm fine if I stay away from things like nuts. Unfortunately , I REALLY love nuts. I can eat them in moderation, but sometimes I don't have the self-control I need. Last attack I had was triggered by being really hungry, and having free access to a large bag of peanuts... Quote
