Contributing Member Jordan Posted October 29, 2007 Contributing Member Report Posted October 29, 2007 if there is a tandy store close to you they have bags of scrap to sell but the pieces are not large enough to do much with. The store by me has a shelf under the cutting table that has larger pieces for sale at a decent price tandy leather is ok to practice on. hope this helped. Quote
Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted October 29, 2007 Ambassador Report Posted October 29, 2007 Kevin is right go to tandy look for the bags of scraps, or buy one of thoes bellies.. also i think they do have a sale on 1/2 sholders. Leather is priced $$$$ per sq ft... 144 sq inches in a sq ft. any piece of leather i have left i will use it. Quote
Chris B Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 Thanks guys. And no the closest tandy is about 2 and a half hours away. Kevin, are you looking to get rid of some bellies? Or are you just suggesting what I should look for? Thanks, Chris Quote
Members K-Man Posted October 30, 2007 Members Report Posted October 30, 2007 welder: I've got some scrap Hermann Oak that doesn't make the grade for what I make. I usually sell it to the local Tandy Leather Factory for their scrap bin. I'd be happy to send some of that to you. Give me a shout if you're interested and we can work out the details. My email address is leathercraft (at) (hotmail) (dot) (com), or send me a pm here on the forum. Quote

Chris B Posted October 30, 2007 Author Report Posted October 30, 2007 Well...ummm we do have some local grocery stores..lol. And a Wal mar i can get to in about 15 minutes. But ya thats the closest tandy in Columbus and its every bit of 2 hours, and maybe a half an hour or 15 minutes... From what I heard back in the 70s and early 80s there used to be a tandy store about 30 minutes away, it would be nice to have one that close Quote
Moderator Art Posted October 30, 2007 Moderator Report Posted October 30, 2007 That's when they had 239 stores, now they have 70 or so. If Ron and Shannon don't get their costs under control in Fort Worth, we may end up with even less. The balance sheet looks good but the P&L for recent quarters sucks.
