looking to upgrade some of my tools.

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to upgrade some of my tools.

Been doing leather work on & off for the last 35 years.

Figured i'd start with 3 new bevelers.

I heard Beard tools were about the best.

Can anyone help with were to get them the fastest.

Like a company that carries them.

All help needed,

thanks Peter I. craftsman827

I think you have to buy them from him directly. And it's a first come first serve basis. He has a 3 to 6 month wait for most tools, but probably so well worth it, you won't mind the wait.

I'm on the list now for a swivel knife, and can't wait.

There might be a slight chance that he would have something common like certain bevelers on hand. Otherwise you are gonna have to wait in line, but I agree, it's worth the wait. Give Bob a call, he is fun to talk to and he'll let you know how long it will take.

Call Bob at 505-632-7039 or go to his website and get a catalog on its way to you www.robertbeardtools.com The sooner you get your order placed the sooner you get your tools. Normally he doe not sell out of his inventory as they are tools that are for sale at classes and Trade shows.

i stood in line for like 6-8mos to get my tools from Mr. Beard.

They are great tools, cool look and feel, great impressions..expensive like most designer tools

worth the wait? sorta, but not if i had work to do and i was counting on him to deliver...

if you want things only he does, your going to have to wait...most of what i got from him was his own proprietary designs

not standard stuff like a checkered bevelere

but if you want things that are reasonably available - bevelers and the like..

you can go to a few top shelf resources -

wayne jueschke being one, but wayne's tools dont have

the cool black finish or gold lettering, but i suspect your leather wont know that

but hey - i see a few people in here have been sharing tool how-to's which is cool as hell - why not make your own tools??

youll get to save money (hmm, well maybe not) but damn - youll be using your own tools to make your own work - how cool is that, eh?

Have you ever thought of buying some from Barry King. I got a set of Roberts Bevelers when I first started and hardly ever use them anymore. I would call up Barry same quality and youll get them faster.

Ken Hale of Durango Gunleather carries Beard's tools. He has a website. You'll have to contact him and see what he has. I'd also go with Barry King for many tools, also Horseshoe brand tools(Jeremiah Watt,@ Ranch2arena.com) Lots of good makers out there.

Good luck. G.Hackett

It's worth the wait. <nodding enthusiastically> Get your order in as soon as you decide.
