Kevin King Report post Posted November 8, 2007 looks good bro. I just started a part-time job on monday at a large shop making furniture and upholstery for restauraunt chains, so i'm feelin the same. I do however have a deal in the works for a bike shop in Hawaii to retail my wallets! We'll see where that takes me.
outcast Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Seat looks great Roger! Sorry to hear about the $ thing. That sucks. I hope it picks back up for ya soon. There's no better way to pick up that extra $ then to do what you love, and excel at, and you definitely got it goin on with the leather thing. Beaverslayer Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Nice looking seat Roger. I'm sorry to here about the slowdown in business, up here it seems like it's picked up a bit, but mostly with orders going down to the US. Let's hope it picks up again real soon. CitizenKate Report post Posted November 8, 2007 I know that feeling... having to go back to a day job after a year of making a go at it in the leather business. But I'm not licked yet, and I hope you're not either, durnit! Just soak up the take-home, reflect, regroup, and who knows what new ideas will come, and what opportunities tomorrow will bring? bustedlifter Report post Posted November 8, 2007 El neato man! Really diggin' that boss seat! I just love Roth and "lowbrow" art inspired work. Hang in there with the side line, maybe branch out in other areas.
Guest Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Good looking seat as always Roger. Hang in there, it is early winter the cold weather builders will come looking for seats soon. Dave

Guest Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Roger has way too much talent to have a slow business for an extended period of time. Just use the time to catch up on personal projects....and wait for it to come to you because it will. Dave
broncobuster Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Its slow all over and i do just about anything as a repair shop even been doing mending. what a degrade lol. but its really slow an only forsee to get worse. this area is sort of depressed already and with all the fuel prices going up wages are getting ate up just for that. 700+ dollars in last week for fuel for my house n lp for my shop. good thing i have lots of trees. looks like the wood burner will be going all the time. we'll get through we always do. good luck
Art Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Hi David, Maybe it was a little too close to a "spread" in "The Horse" about a year and a half ago. Art The bike shop I work for has decided to change directions for their seats....This seat was rejected
Guest Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Art, Actually the cover of the Horse was taken from a poster that Sucker Punch made! The seat art is also from the poster. In the leather carving, the bike is too generic looking to be identified with any specific bike. It is a very recognizable image and for most folks it just screams Sucker Punch. Which is what I thought was the purpose of seat art. Dave
Art Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Hi Dave, Never seen the poster, but I do remember the "Horse" spread because the model had HUGE pupils, I've seen that before and it just stuck in my mind. If I was the photographer I would have retouched that. The seat top looks great anyway, why not just finish the seat and have them put it in the shop on spec? It'll sell, ain't no question. Art Report post Posted November 8, 2007 Dave, Yeah, sometimes I actually find myself looking at the bikes, and say to myself, what the hell is the matter with you? Art Uh huh, her pupils were huge.....ok Art.....that's what I noticed too.
Guest Report post Posted November 8, 2007 I can go you one better on that....I find myself thinking "why can't they move the model to the back of the bike so I can see more of the cool stuff?" "or better yet, just leave her out of the picture?" That's when you know you've gotten old. Dave

Roger Report post Posted November 9, 2007 thanks for all the compliments and comments! sorry to hear that everyone is slow. i guess i'll have to try and push a bit harder. i finally get my stuff into four or five magazines and feel that it's finally getting to where i think it needs to be and it slows down like this! Guest Report post Posted November 9, 2007 (edited) Roger, Disappointing indeed. Your work slows down and mine becomes endlessly boring. Sometimes no good deed goes unpunished. I like to hear you say that you'll push a little harder. We need talented guys like you doing creative seat work....There are just too many drooling skulls and tacky flame jobs on seats. Your work is always original, creative and always very professionally executed. Keep plugging away it will come around.
