Boicie Report post Posted February 13, 2023 Hey there, I'm looking for a wide strap cutter that doesn't cost the earth. I don't mind manual or electric but I need something that will do larger than 4 inches for Bag Gussets and the like. Any recommendations? I live in Australia if that makes a difference so postage can be expensive.

Boicie Report post Posted February 14, 2023 PM sent @RockyAussie @Doc Reaper I'm thinking about making a jig that has a skiving knife fixed and then a fence that can be walked out, kinda like a manual tablesaw. If I get there I will post pics
Matt S Report post Posted February 15, 2023 I borrowed these pictures from Ron Edwards' excellent book on Australian bush leatherwork. It can be chucked together in minutes from common materials. It's probably as cheap as you can get if you already have the knife. A Stanley/boxcutter blade would probably also work. He also shows an even simpler jig with a knife stuck in the benchtop and a block of wood nailed down as a fence.
Boicie Report post Posted February 15, 2023 All.The.Yesses! Thank you so much, that is exactly the way I was thinking. I've got a square knife I got in a kit and never used. I now have to buy that book. Thanks
