Well, here are the new Sucker Punch Sallys seats. The will be replacing the old designs that you have all probably seen.

well these are much plainer than the seats Ive seen you produce - a little of a mass production feel.....very clean and i like your typography - very neat and well beveled - overall - i like them - clean and neat

i like the one in the middle the best,,they are all good but the middle one makes the seat look thicker (padded more).

I do not make my own seat pans. These are West Eagle seat pans.

Being plainer, are they faster to produce? I imagine the lacing is what consumes the time, though. With your talent, seems a waste not to get you to get fancy on every seat. You and Beezachoppa can make anyone's dream-come-true seat with flat out anything on it...they could stamp out a logo and be done with it. Maybe it will leave you more time for your personal projects?

Okay, to be honest... I can envision those being collectors items one day in the near future. Very clean and as always, classy! I love the one on the left that has all those beautiful fat wrinkles. Ain't nothing like leather, is there?

I was actually amazed at how much time the lettering took. Perhaps after a few of them I'll get faster. I feel I have to be so careful with the lettering. A little mistake in the lettering makes the whole seat look sloppy. If there was some other artwork on the seat to distract your eye a bit..... Well, mine is not to reason why.....etc. etc.

David, whether the seat is plain in detail or not, they are still works of art. I know once you fire up that compressor and air brush, you'll make them far from ordinary. Great job.

I'm with Kate on this one. I really like them and the first thing i thought of was they look like a throw back design. You know like how the NFL teams are wearing their old logos now. Something like that.

Dave i love your work man. It was great to see your seat in person and to ( lack of a better term ) man handle it. It was very hard to put it back on the table . I had to keep telling myself, " walk away, just walk away".

those are very nice! What impresses me is all the frikin letters. I hate letters. You've definately got it. I would think lettering would take longer than the artsy ones.

Yep, David, freak drooled all over the Jesus seat, but after the Honda flood, I knew the seat could take it. I got a little worried in the competition room when he pointed out the helmet and said, "I'd like to put that on and run around in here!" Hey, freak, was that an excellent steak dinner we had later, or what? Wade has been doing stuff in the shop since we got home. He's a lot better at it than he thinks he is, naturally.

I really like "clean" work and yours is beyootiful! I had to search out your other seats; they are also works of art.

To me a lot of carving can get pretty busy looking and even though I can be green with envy over the talent it takes, it's not always my favorite. Your work strikes a great balance with "white space," not having to use every bit of the leather with your designs. WOW!

I guess the bottom line is beauty is in the eye of the beholder and you should continue doing some of each.

Well what can i say i have always loved your work and bezas, its a shame as the seats you were doing before where custom seats and now its as if they only want the logo of the company for advertising, your work is clean and a loss to the upcoming customers of sucker punch as they arnt geting the full benifit of your abilities, due to the owners of sucker punch... and you can tell them i said that LOL, honestly if i was a customer for the bike they make i would want a custom seat on it and not a advert and i would contact you privatley to make me one to higher customized standards that you normally do,

I agree with Don. I know it takes talent to do the lettering and make it look neat and clean, but to me it just looks like an advertisement for them. You should be doing the advertisement for YOU. Your past artwork has been awesome and I think they should let you use your imagination and talent to really make your (their) seats custom.

Yeah, I'm a bit on both sides of this.

The patience it took to hand tool the logos to look fine enough to be some CNC machine stamping/engraving put these in whole other realm. And we ain't seen the finished product.

I'm thinking these are above the likes of Andy Warhol and artist of that ilk. And remember these aren't static pieces of art but functional, kinetic pieces of rolling art.

I think the final count was 5-2 in favor of the seats.....I must say, I am rather surprised. BTW I prefer the middle one also. The shape mimics the overall shape of the seat and is pleasing to look at.

Make it 5-3. I think the new seats are just fine and have their own unique style, but I'm having a hard time believing folks prefer the new stuff to classic artwork like this and this.

No doubt the quality and craftsmanship of the new seats is spectacular, but I think Sucker Punch would be better off giving Dave more creative freedom. Then again, I've heard the customer is always right...

I like the new seat but abn is right about the fact that the other seats show more individual style and giving Dave some latitude would be a selling point IMO because then the customer could say.. "Hey I got this seat custom with my bike"....

They are dyed with Tandy Pro dye applied with a dauber.....Then buffed out with a terry rag. Then treathed with Leather balm with atom wax. I think neutral shoe polish in paste form would do about the same thing.
