Luke856 Report post Posted June 30, 2023 (edited) The edge of this long wallet ended with ''Piping'' I think that French Piping is better then Piping Which one do you think is better ? Edited June 30, 2023 by Luke856
AlZilla Report post Posted June 30, 2023 The tan wallet with that nice rolled under edge is by far nicer than the raw edge on the green one. Especially that inside corner where it's all scrunched up on the green one.

Thanks for your reply I feel the same way about the corners between two types The tan wallet coner feels like smooth & round. Sheilajeanne Report post Posted July 1, 2023 (edited) That is some of the best work I've seen on here in a long time! I was interested to see how you did it, especially the piping, so I checked out your links on FB. A lot of work but you make it look so easy! Of course, anyone who has tried this know it is not. The brown wallet does have nicer piping, but both are very very well made! Your work is AWESOME! What do you call the machine that sews the piping? Thanks your compliment In early times,I used edge paint to finish the edge .But it is easy to split at the curved part especially. Now only ID holder that I use edge paint to finish the edge ''Piping'' & ''Turned edge'' are the best way to finfish edge that i think ,while i made wallet. About the edgs finished with '' French Piping'' Please refer to this website (from 12:50~15:50) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBpOECQxUN4 , this is now the main point I need to practice, especially on the coner . By the way ,I use cylinder arm sewing machine to fix the strip(same way like the video) , then I hand sewing to finish edge. SteveOz Report post Posted July 2, 2023 @Luke856 Both are very deftly done! But, my preference is for the tan example. Is the tan example the French piping?

Yes, it is. On the right side is generally called French piping. The left side is different type of French piping. You can see the difference from the picture. The sewing from the edge is 2.5mm on the tan wallet, the other one maybe 4mm or more I guess. I think the distance is too much when I made the tan wallet, so I use the different type. Well, finally it looks good I'm so sorry my engish is not good Edited July 2, 2023 by Luke856
