Wet Molded Sheath For My Buck 196T Knife

Recommended Posts

I've had this knife for years.  It is discontinued now.  It has always been near impossible to resheath the knife and fasten the snap.

This is my attempt at solving the problem.  A diversion in 2021.

Veg tan leather.  Feibings Professional Oil Dye Black.  Stitched on a Cowboy CB3200.

Good retention and it solves the problem.

My write up is here

Thanks for looking,
Mike

Nice deep forming and the edge finish looks good as well. Like the formed belt holder part and the one piece pattern.

That looks really good, at the tip where the blade curves I would have cut the leather to follow the curve for and inch or so then continue the stitch line around the tip and up the spine where it was cut for the curve.

I agree.  I noticed that only after I wet molded it.  A lesson learned for next time.  At the time, I couldn't figure out how to curve the fold and thought it would be okay, but it does show and looks a little weird.  I didn't think of stitching around the point of the knife and back up the spine.

Thanks for the input...!!!

Mike

nice job, did you skive the inside of the sheath at the spine? the fold appears kind of bulky

Thanks.  I think I v-grooved it like you would do a 90º bend.  I probably should have done a double groove..
