I have just about all of them.. I use the 12 oz for copper rivets. It's not a 16d nail....

Oh hell. I’m just gonna get both an 8oz and 12oz. I like the vintage stuff. Proto, Plumb, etc.

You need both.  Definitely.

But a 12 oz requires less work to use IMO.
