Members SUP Posted February 5, 2024 Members Report Posted February 5, 2024 (edited) I got these two furs for a couple of dollars yesterday. They are glossy and appear clean. I am completely clueless about furs and would love to know what animals they come from. Before I think of using them, I would like to give them a light cleaning. How can I do that? I would appreciate any help with this. The backs of the furs is posted in the next post. Edited February 5, 2024 by SUP Quote
Members SUP Posted February 5, 2024 Author Members Report Posted February 5, 2024 (edited) The back of the same furs. The brown patch on the white one is where my dog found it and licked it. Caught her just in time! Edited February 5, 2024 by SUP Quote

Expand I agree, looks like wabbit Some breeds of wabbit grow very long hair Clean carefully, sponge clean and hang to dry. Do not get soaking wet or they will fall apart Worth about $10 to $15 each Edited February 5, 2024 by fredk Quote
Members SUP Posted February 5, 2024 Author Members Report Posted February 5, 2024 (edited) Will do. I got them for $2. My dog loves them... will probably chew them before I can do anything with them. She keeps eyeing them. Thank you @fredk and @bladegrinder. Edited February 5, 2024 by SUP Quote
CFM tsunkasapa Posted February 5, 2024 CFM Report Posted February 5, 2024 The light one is not rabbit. It looks more like hair than fur. Some closer pictures would help. Quote
Members SUP Posted February 5, 2024 Author Members Report Posted February 5, 2024 @tsunkasapa, Do these help to identify it? Quote
Contributing Member fredk Posted February 5, 2024 Contributing Member Report Posted February 5, 2024 I think the white might be (English) Angora wabbit Quote
Members bladegrinder Posted February 6, 2024 Members Report Posted February 6, 2024 That looks like one of those killer rabbits from the Monty Python show. Quote

Members SUP Posted February 6, 2024 Author Members Report Posted February 6, 2024 @tsunkasapa, Yes, I was wondering if it might be something like that though I was wondering more about whether it might be wolf or something like that. Rabbit fur feels different - so soft and fluffy. CFM tsunkasapa Posted February 6, 2024 CFM Report Posted February 6, 2024 Wolf would have a double coat. Coarser outer hair with a 'wooly' undercoat. Quote
Members SUP Posted February 6, 2024 Author Members Report Posted February 6, 2024 @tsunkasapa, okay. This is anyway a small piece. it looks like something cut out of a larger piece. Quote
