Re-dying stingray leather

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm looking for a bit of advice please.
Someone asked me to overstain black this stingray cuff. It has 18carats gold bits so it is quite expensive.
Anyone has had experience with redying stingray leather? Would it have to be declared first?
How much should I ask for the work?

Thanks Alberto

I'm thinking if they can afford 18k gold adornments, then it would be best to just buy some black stingray & make a new bracelet.

A re-dye or color change is going to be tricky with that cream white lining that bracelet/cuff has.

Another thought, if they just want a black to brown fade or halo effect, you possibly could airbrush the bracelet/cuff with black dye. But I would be worried about the cream colored lining.

I guess you mean "deglazed". And yeah - that would be required.  If it were possible, it would be difficult.

Sometimes it's best to walk away.  I think this is one of those times.

FYI, it's always more work to "fix" a thing than it is to make it.  Charge accordingly.
