archery arm guard

Recommended Posts

My daughter drew this out last year and then forgot about it. I was bored so grabbed it the other day and did the knife work and tooling for her then she colored it using only red, blue, green  and yellow dyes. She mixed the colors herself even the dark brown is made with those four colors. I can tell you if you want an exercise in the swivel knife and some good practice then send her a chunk of leather lol I about went cross eyed.

Beautiful work!  The tooling is great; looking at your shading especially, as I'm just learning to do that and trying to get it down.  Your daughter's paint work is great as well.  Two thumbs up.

Going cross-eyed is an understatement! There's a lot of very fine short cuts in that, you did a great job. And so did your daughter.:specool:

Very cool!  I'm guessing that Orchid is her name?  I really enjoy it when young people take an interest in my craft.  I suppose that is part of being an old geezer.  JM2C, Jim

Wow. The girl has a really deft hand with the paintbrush and a good eye for color.  Blowing the pics up shows quite a lot of precision work.

The guy she hired to do the knife work and tooling is pretty fair, too ... :)

she has an eye for detail and the talent to make it come alive.  And your tooling is impeccable. Great teamwork!

Nice bracer Chuck. That you worked on it together makes it special and ensures it will never end up in the bin in 30 years time.

That look great.

My hardest time with leather working is the drawing out part.

Thanks mine is too, thinking up the design sometimes takes days lol Orchid drew this with a stylus right on the leather, other than the letters being kinda wonky she made few mistakes. She routinely sketches with a pen, how does a person do that without erasing lol??
