Adler 205-370 feed dog and needle plate

Recommended Posts

I recently bought an adler 205-370 and would like to buy a moving binder set.

Kwok Hing offers one for the  juki 441 but they claim it also fits the adler 205.

https://www.khsew.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1902

Is that possible? are feed dogs and needle plate for the juki 441 and adler 205 Exchangable?

Thanks in advance

Michiel

I would not say it is is impossible. When you go back in the history of these machines then it all started with the singer 45K, then later Adler 5, Adler 105 and the needle plates and feed do were interchangeable only difference I noticed is that the feed dog have different length oval screw hole. I´m using an Adler 5 needle plate and feed dog on my Singer 45D91 I only had to alter the feed dog hole a bit to make it work.

Sure the machines 441 and 205 are later / more modern machines but Juki´s have a lot in common with the Singers and the 205 is the later version of the 105 so I would not say it is impossible but I have no direct comparison.

Just my 2 cents... ;)

EDIT:

2 more cents:

Since they are the manufacturer of this device I´m almost certain that they have tested this set before they claim that it works for other machines too.

There is a couple of links to video's of the moving arm. I assume there are specific feed dogs and needle for each machine.

Unless you are going to turn the machine into a dedicated edge binding machine it seems to me like a lot of extra work just to do edge binding and then have to strip it down to do regular sewing.

I think you have a good point there. For lighter work i have dedicated binder machines to avoid that

I'm going to take that into consideration

Here is what I done with my 441 clone to do edge binding using the inexpensive inline binders that I use on all my other machines. This may give you some ideas.

Adler 205 needle plates and feed dogs are not compatible with the Juki 441. The plates are smaller for the Adler and the feed dog is different. As far as I know there is no lateral adjustment for the feed dog to center the needle like the 441. If your interested in a narrow feed dog and plate for your Adler look no further....https://heprecision.com/

Yes you are right!

i first was not sure if this was a moving binder, but after looking to the video of Uwe i understood this is also a moving binder (but connected in an other way than the binderset  i first looked at.

All in all, I do need quite a few parts for this solution (the other option was a complete set)
and I don't think I'm doing enough binding to justify the effort of conversion and total cost .

i think i will start trying with a non moving binder (for most binding my adler 69 and 67 with moving binder setup will do anyway)
