Members JLA1913 Posted Wednesday at 10:11 PM Members Report Posted Wednesday at 10:11 PM (edited) Good afternoon, I am new to this forum and after reading some posts, I am hoping you all may be able to help me find information on a leather sewing machine that was my grandfather’s. I will attempt to insert photo at bottom of post. The machine is a Pearson & Bennion A2 Leicester, weighs a ton, and that’s about all I know. More info on time period, collectibility, and potential value be greatly interesting to my family and appreciated! Edited Thursday at 02:30 AM by Northmount removed 3rd party link Quote

The link you provided to a 3rd party host requires approval to view. Not useful to this group. 3rd party hosted photos frequently disappear due to changes in the host's policies, host out of business, users moving files, deleting files, closing their account or the account expiring. When this happens, the post becomes worthless to all future users who are researching or looking for help to solve a problem. If your files are too large to post here due to file size restrictions, you need to resize your files to fit, 800 pixels in the longest dimension is adequate. Members amuckart Posted Thursday at 09:59 PM Members Report Posted Thursday at 09:59 PM What a cool machine! I have a Pearson & Bennion A1 but wasn’t aware there was an A2 as well! Exact dating isn’t possible but it’s Pearson & Bennion it is pre-1896 or thereabouts. Pearson & Bennion were acquired by British United in 1896, and after that machines were marked British United Sewing Machine Co. or BUSM. No idea what it’s worth, depends entirely on the collectors in your vicinity. If it were near me I’d pay a couple hundred NZD for it, just for the novelty value and interest. Quote
Members JLA1913 Posted Thursday at 10:59 PM Author Members Report Posted Thursday at 10:59 PM Thanks for your response! I’m having a difficult time locating info on the “A2” model. I’m definitely learning a lot about the history of BUSMC in the process. Quote
Members Constabulary Posted Friday at 04:18 AM Members Report Posted Friday at 04:18 AM indeed looks like a beefier version of the BUSMC A1. I owned an A1 several years ago: Quote
