Members DoubleKCustomLeathercraft Posted April 15 Members Report Posted April 15 (edited) Although I don't think I'm losing eyesight I'm curious if some kind of jewelers glasses or readers might improve some of my tooling. I do occasionally... miss the mark. Is there anyone here that's used jewelers/dental style loupe glasses? Or does anyone have any suggestions? Just picking brains right now, but I've been considering giving something a try. Edited April 15 by DoubleKCustomLeathercraft Fixed typo Quote
Contributing Member fredk Posted April 15 Contributing Member Report Posted April 15 I have and use different powers of reading glasses for my close-up work. General use is 2 diopter, with 2.5, 3, 3.5 and for very close work 4. But the main thing are to have plenty of strong light and don't work in your own shadow I find using a jewelers loup awkward as it used with one eye only I also have, but rarely use a head band with changeable magnifying lenses Quote
CFM chuck123wapati Posted April 15 CFM Report Posted April 15 I use the nerdiest headband type I could find with my 2x readers underneath and wear it like a badge of honor.. Have some fun in life heck yea... Quote
Members DoogMeister Posted April 15 Members Report Posted April 15 I have a light with a magnifying lens that mounts to my bench. It has a swivel arm so it can be moved around. Wouldn't be without it. Most on the market these days have an LED light. check out Hobby Lobby stores or Harbor freight. the big box stores - such as Lowe's, Home Depot, and Menards will have something similar as well. Members dikman Posted April 15 Members Report Posted April 15 Like Chuck I use headband magnifiers, I use them a lot and keep a pair in my garage, computer room, with my lathes and reloading/leather stuff. I find them invaluable. Quote
Contributing Member fredk Posted April 15 Contributing Member Report Posted April 15 Optivisor - I couldn't remember the name earlier This is the type I have. But my wee light is broken and I'll have to cobble up a new one Quote
Members DoubleKCustomLeathercraft Posted Thursday at 02:17 PM Author Members Report Posted Thursday at 02:17 PM Thanks for the replies everyone. I see I'm not alone in this. I think I'm gonna have to give it a try. I might try with did cheap dollar store readers first. But I've been looking at the headband type with a light also, since I use a headlamp a lot. I have plenty of light in my shop, but I find having a headlamp really eliminates the shadows. Thanks again everyone. Quote
