Although I don't think I'm losing eyesight I'm curious if some kind of jewelers glasses or readers might improve some of my tooling. I do occasionally... miss the mark.

Is there anyone here that's used jewelers/dental style loupe glasses? Or does anyone have any suggestions?

Just picking brains right now, but I've been considering giving something a try.

I have and use different powers of reading glasses for my close-up work. General use is 2 diopter, with 2.5, 3, 3.5 and for very close work 4. But the main thing are to have plenty of strong light and don't work in your own shadow

I find using a jewelers loup awkward as it used with one eye only

I also have, but rarely use a head band with changeable magnifying lenses

I use the nerdiest headband type I could find with my 2x readers underneath and wear it like a badge of honor.. Have some fun in life heck yea...

Worked in a prison for 30 years if I aint shiny every time I comment its no big deal, I just don't wave pompoms.

I have a light with a magnifying lens that mounts to my bench.  It has a swivel arm so it can be moved around.  Wouldn't be without it.  Most on the market these days have an LED light.

check out Hobby Lobby stores or Harbor freight.  the big box stores - such as Lowe's, Home Depot, and Menards will have something similar as well.

Like Chuck I use headband magnifiers, I use them a lot and keep a pair in my garage, computer room, with my lathes and reloading/leather stuff. I find them invaluable.

Optivisor - I couldn't remember the name earlier

This is the type I have. But my wee light is broken and I'll have to cobble up a new one

Thanks for the replies everyone. I see I'm not alone in this. I think I'm gonna have to give it a try. I might try with did cheap dollar store readers first. But I've been looking at the headband type with a light also, since I use a headlamp a lot. I have plenty of light in my shop, but I find having a headlamp really eliminates the shadows. Thanks again everyone.

I've used jeweler's loupe glasses, and they can be very helpful for detailed tasks by providing precise magnification. They often come in various magnification levels, so you can choose one that suits your needs. They can be a bit of an adjustment to wear, but once you get used to them, they can greatly improve accuracy for small, detailed work. If you're unsure, you might want to start with an adjustable pair or even just a pair of magnifying readers to see how they feel before investing in a more expensive option.
