AEBL Posted May 26 Report Posted May 26 This is a picture from the "Hahns Atelier" YouTube channel. I think it was "how to make a leather clutch bag" or something like that. He used some leather zipper tabs. One side covered the entire zipper tape, which I had seen done before. The other side near the "closed" zipper side, was two separate pieces of leather. The design seems to work well, but is asymmetric, I guess. I was wondering what the reasoning might be for making the tab two separate pieces instead of one tab? In the picture, it is the top left. Digit Posted May 30 Report Posted May 30 You do indeed get a longer opening that way. The downside is that the bag doesn't fully close and the tickness of the leather might push away the zipper puller, potentially making the opening even bigger. Maybe it's a workaround for not having the correct zipper length to match the bag dimension (or vice-versa: miscalculated bag size based on the zipper at hand). Quote

Those are my thoughts as well but the rest of the work looks high quality. Quote Wild Harry - Australian made leather goodsYouTube Channel Instagram
CFM chuck123wapati Posted May 31 CFM Report Posted May 31 This way, the zipper doesn't get ruined from being pulled apart when the bag is open. no stress on the zipper at all.
